Asher chuckled. “Baby, I’m good but I’m not that good. I received my fair share of injuries fighting him, but you know what I found out? My fairy powers make me immune to several things, including wolfsbane. I think it's in his saliva. I could smell it, but it didn’t affect me. It was more than the tolerance I've built up. I was immune! That was his secret weapon, and without it up his sleeve, Abaas lost ground fast. If it wasn’t for him knocking us over the waterfall, I would have ended his miserable life. Sorry I missed our chance to be rid of him.”
“It isn’t just him we have to worry about. He mentioned a demon named Leoric and his father, Mephisto. From what I gather, he’s the real mastermind behind all of this. He’s the one who will be in charge during our big showdown.” Lita finally quit crying and took a deep breath.
“Doesn’t matter who it is. We will defeat them. You feeling better now?” Asher asked, as he tilted her head up to meet his.
“Just needed to release my emotions. I didn’t allow myself to let them out until now.” Lita smiled as she gazed into his gray eyes. She was afraid she would never see those beautiful eyes again. She felt his hot breath fan against her skin. Then she pushed forward, closing the small gap between them. She passionately met his lips, pouring all her feelings into him, emptying her emotions into the kiss.
“Mmm, baby … I need you. Can’t wait to spend some private time with you back in our room,” Asher whispered into her lips.
“You promised me that days ago, remember?” Lita smiled into his lips.
“Then I guess I’d better really deliver.” He shot her a wide grin. “You ready to join everyone? They’re worried about you.” Asherdidn’t want to share her, but he knew they were all sitting over there, looking at her with concern. They all wanted to go to her, but it was clear she walked away because she wanted to be alone. There was only one person who could go to her, and that was Asher.
They told him how aggressive she’d been, and how she’d even dismissed her father’s alpha voice. She refused to give up on him. Nothing had mattered to her. She traveled, exhausted and in pain, never giving up. His heart hurt as he heard the entire story from them. He knew she had to have been suffering with worry and stress. It made his chest swell just hearing how she wouldn’t give up on him. She was just like him in that respect. He would have thought, to hell with all of them. He would never have given up on her either. It didn’t matter where he would have to follow her. He would go.
He pulled her up to her feet, kissing her lips lightly before leading her back. Everyone looked relieved as they saw Lita’s smiling face staring up at Asher. She had her glow back, her eyes beaming with adoration and love. There was no doubt about it. Asher made her a better person. They made each other better people. They weren’t just simple mates … they were soulmates.
Chapter 92
They were almost back home. They all traveled together up to where they had left the trucks. It was a short trip back to the fairy kingdom from there for Alice and Nathon, since they'dbrought the hippogryphs with them. They promised they would visit soon. Caspian returned with them to be with his mate until she could come. Grayson joked with Asher and Lita about how he planned to bunk in their room.
“You can, but you'd better be prepared for an X-rated show.” Asher smirked.
“Keep it in your pants while I’m around,” Grayson teased back.
“Everything is fair game if it’s in my room.” Asher grinned as Grayson forced a fake gulp.
“On second thought, I’ll stay in my own room. I don’t need you ravaging my virtue.” They all laughed at Grayson and were in good spirits. Caden was driving the other vehicle back, following them closely until they pulled up to the pack house.
Asher hopped out happily, glad to be back home. He turned and scooped his arm around Lita, pulling her in beside him. “Let’s go see our boys.” Asher grinned and Lita nodded excitedly. They hadn’t seen them in days, and they missed them terribly.
On their way to the pack house, Garrett crashed into Asher, patting his back and holding him close. “Rosa told us what happened. I was afraid you wouldn’t be returning.” Garrett sniffed.
Lita thought it was adorable to see these big, muscular men showing their emotional sides. They rarely showed it. When they did, it showed just how much they cared.
“Hey, you should think more of me than that. That demon didn’t know what hit him. And I have something else to tell you. I’m immune to wolfsbane!” Asher exclaimed.
“No shit, dude?! That’s awesome! So, did you kill the demon?”
“No, the coward escaped. He knew he was in trouble! That’s why he took us over the falls. I think he’s scared off for now, though. He knows he can’t beat us alone.” Asher hoped that they could at least have some peace. Abaas would still have to be dealt with. It wasn’t like they could just hunt him down, though. Theycouldn’t do anything until he showed his face again. “How have my boys been? You been keeping them on their toes?” Asher watched Garrett chuckle.
“They’ve been keeping us on ours. Come on, they’re in the house. They’ve been asking for you two.” Garrett pulled away and winked at Lita. He was excited to have his alpha and luna back home.
“Is Rosa in there with them?” Caden asked, eager to see her.
“Yes, she and Kristen are wrestling with the boys to try to get them to eat.” Garrett chuckled and shook his head. The boys sure were a handful.
“Well, let’s go!” Grayson excitedly pushed forward and opened the doors to the house. “Where are my favorite nephews at?” Grayson growled playfully.
“Uncle Grayson!” The boys jumped down from the table and pounced on him. Then, looking up, they saw Asher and Lita walk in.
“Mommy! Daddy!” they yelled, and each chose a parent to leap into. Brody was squeezed in Lita’s embrace while Asher held Chasen tightly.
“We’ve missed you boys so much!” Lita kissed Brody’s head as he grinned up at her.
“You said you would bring Daddy back and you did.” Brody beamed at her proudly.
“Of course I did. He wasn’t skipping out on me already.” Lita winked at him.
