“No way would I leave my boys. Just had to show a demon who was boss. Then I got trapped by a siren. The things that happen in the fairy world.” Asher chuckled with a small shrug.
Kristen squealed and ran over to Lita. “I hear you’re pregnant! I’m getting a new little cousin!” She then glared at Asher. “Don’t you die on us again!”
Asher chuckled, with a shrug. “I didn’t die this time, I was just trapped by a siren.”
“Shacking up with another woman while your mate is pregnant,” Kristen teased and gave Lita one more tight hug. “I’m so excited about all these new little additions to the family.”
“Yes, we’re going to have a houseful real soon.” Lita giggled as she lowered Brody down to go see Asher. Chasen ran over to her for his hug.
“I told Kristen that she has to give me a pup now, too, or I’ll be jealous.” Garrett pecked her cheek, causing it to glow.
“So does this mean Rosa has to get pregnant already, too?” Kristen turned her gaze onto Caden, who had Rosa pulled deep into his arms.
“Hey, give us some more time. We’d like to have some more alone time before we bring kids into the mix. But just so you know, Rosey girl … I’m willing when you are.” Caden watched her adorable cheeks turn red as she buried her face into his chest.
Chasen and Brody were full of energy. They turned around excitedly and bull-rushed Grayson. He tumbled onto the floor, and the wrestling match began.
“I don’t think this place is ever going to be quiet again.” Asher grinned as he reached out and pulled Lita into him. “I like it this way.”
“Me too.” Lita leaned up and kissed his jaw line. They made it back home. They survived a dangerous battle. And now, they could enjoy the countdown until their little one arrived. They wouldn’t worry about Abaas. They wouldn’t borrow trouble from tomorrow. From the sounds of it, he was part of their destiny. They were meant to meet him again.
“I’m sleeping with Uncle Grayson tonight!” Chasen yelled out excitedly, sitting on Grayson’s chest.
“No, I’m sleeping with Uncle Grayson!” Brody challenged back defiantly.
“Boys, you can both bunk up with your Uncle Grayson.” Grayson wrapped his arms around the boys and rolled them back onto the ground.
That night, after tucking the boys into bed with Grayson, Lita and Asher finally made their way up to their room.
“We’re going to need to go shopping for the boys. We need to get them clothes and toys and—”
Asher leaned in and captured her lips with his, interrupting her rambling. He smiled into her lips. “We’ll get them everything they need. What do you think about bunk beds?”
“No. Then they’ll fight about who gets the top and who gets the bottom.” Lita knew that wasn’t a good idea.
“But baby, we don’t have bunk beds, and we fight about who gets the top and who gets the bottom.” Asher smirked into her lips.
“Who’s fighting about it? I don’t mind sharing.” Lita smiled up at him.
Asher chuckled softly and pulled her into his chest. He placed his free hand on her stomach. “How are you feeling? How are my two girls doing?” He gently rubbed her stomach with massaging motions.
“We’re both doing well. Much better now that we have you around. She was giving me a hard time without you.”
“Lita, I was lost before you. Every moment with you makes me grateful to be alive. I promise to cherish every part of you. Your fire, your strength, your caring nature, your light—maybe even your secret love for cheesy romance movies.”
He gave a soft, self-deprecating laugh, dropping his gaze to the flush of her cheek, then lifting his eyes, storm gray, to meet with hers. “I’m blessed that my forever is with you,” he whispered, and the words didn’t sound like a vow, but a prayer. “Do you have any idea how much I love you?” There was something reverent in his touch as he traced the curve of her jaw, a gentleness that contradicted his physical strength. “Every bit of you. Especially the parts that could burn me alive.”
“I know,” she said, and the words came out as a hush, barely louder than the wind. “Because I can feel all of it. Every beat, every breath. But it’s nice to hear you say it. Sometimes it’s still hard to believe. This all feels like a dream. You are my strength and my fire,” she whispered, summoning a tiny heart-shaped flame to dance across her fingertips before gently blowing it toward him. "But just in case you get out of line, I'll keep this handy."
"Gods, I love when you do that," Asher murmured, pulling her closer. "You have no idea how much I love everything about you."
"Show me," Lita breathed, tilting her face up to his, her eyes reflecting the light of the fire that promised to burn forever.
Asher chuckled down at his little temptress. He leaned his mouth down to her ear and whispered lowly. “I’m going to ravage you tonight. Every inch of your body will be mine, and I’m going to enjoy it all night long.” He heard her breath hitch from his promise. He tilted her head up to his and inched down to her lips. The sweet kiss soon became needy and urgent. He tugged her backwards toward the bed, where he made good on his promise. All night long.
Chapter 93
Lita and Asher had a small wedding a couple of months after their encounter with Abaas. Nothing big, just a small ceremony with their friends and family. They wanted to keepit intimate. They also wanted to pull together a wedding before her stomach grew too large. It was perfect and sweet. It was everything Lita wanted. Asher dressed in a tuxedo, and she wore a flowing, white wedding gown. It was very beautiful. Brody and Chasen were the cutest little ring bearers. It was amazing, and it was a day that Lita would never forget.
