A nurse and doctor rush into the room. The nurse holds my flailing arms as the doctor plunges a syringe into my IV.

“This is going to calm you down,” he explains. “We can’t have you tearing your stitches. You’re still at risk for infection.”

My screams turn to silent sobs as the medicine seeps into my veins, and my eyelids grow heavy.

“I swear to you, Ivory, Spike will find him,” Megan murmurs in my ear.

“Spike…”

His name lingers on my lips as my body shuts down… again.

CHAPTER 31

SPIKE

“He’s gonna hurt himself.”

I’m dimly aware of my brothers talking about me as if I’m not here, but I don’t give a damn. Lifting another chair, I launch it across the common room. It crashes into the wall and falls to the floor.

“Let him get it all out,” Soul says. “He needs this.”

Fuck yes, I do. It’s been two days, and we’re no closer to finding Glitter and my son than we were the second we started searching. The bitch has been a step ahead of us the entire time.

And Peanut is suffering because of it.

Peanut. Peanut. Peanut.

“He doesn’t even have a name yet,” I say to no one in particular, my shoulders slumping with defeat.

“We’re gonna find your boy,” Abyss insists, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

“You don’t know that.” My breath hitches in my chest. “He needed surgery when he was born, and he didn’t get it. He could be dead for all we know.”

“Spike, you can’t think like that,” Soul says, stepping up on my other side. “You’ve gotta pull yourself together. He needs you, and so does Ivory.”

“Oh, God, Ivory.” I run my hands through my hair, tugging on it until it hurts. I’d rather feel physical pain than all this emotional agony. “What if she never forgives me?”

“There’s nothing to forgive, man.” Rogue steps in front of me. “This isn’t your fault.”

“Yes, it is. I’m the common denominator between Ivory and Glitter. If not for me, she wouldn’t be lying in a hospital, recovering from a near-death encounter.”

“And neither of you would have found the love of your liv?—”

The clubhouse alarm blares, and we all whip our heads in the direction of the elevator. That alarm only sounds when someone who doesn’t have access is trying to get into the garage.

“What the fuck?” Malice growls as he strides toward the elevator. He presses the button that opens up a secret door to a monitor. We usually use the security room, but we have this monitor here for emergencies. “Holy shit,” he mutters. “You’ve gotta come look at this.”

I rush forward, and when my eyes land on the screen, every muscle in my body tenses.

“Go get her,” Soul demands, pointing at Abyss and Rogue.

Glitter is standing directly in front of the camera that covers the outside of the garage, and she’s holding a baby. Her eyes appear crazed, and the baby’s mouth is open as if he’s crying.

“She’s got balls showing up here,” Soul says. “That’s for sure.”

“Balls and a death wish,” I seethe.

We continue to watch the monitor until Abyss and Rogue appear. Less than a minute later, the elevator door opens, and my living nightmare smiles at me like she isn’t on the hook for attempted murder and kidnapping.
