“He’s going to have a tough time with this,” I say tiredly. “Guilt will eat him alive for bringing this down on our heads.”

She throws up her hands. “He can get over it. We both brought psychos to the party.”

Grayson barks a laugh behind her. “On the bright side, three down. One to go?”

“Precisely,” she retorts. “Can you bandage him up while I go look for Mitch?”

“No!” Grayson and I shout.

“Don’t go anywhere without us. Not right now. Okay?” I plead with her. This was way too close.

After she bandages my arm, we head down to find Mitch. When we get to the lower deck, Thiago’s standing there with Mitch propped up against him.

Grayson hurries over to Mitch’s other side to help hold him up.

Henley turns a worried face toward Thiago. “Is he going to make it?”

“He’s a little fuzzy from the drugs, but thankfully, it’s beginning to wear off. He’d already kicked the door open when I saw him,” Thiago informs her. “Let’s get off the yacht and let the team sweep it for tonight’s party.”

We all look at him like he’s crazy, but his face is set. I guess the show must go on.

After the ambulance drives off with Mitch, the team sweeps the yacht, but thankfully, they don’t find anything.

Juanita arrives shortly after and begins to set up the food.

Grayson finds out the bartenders and servers left when the men with guns showed up.

“Fuck it. We’ll open several bottles of wine and champagne. If they want something else, they can help themselves to the bar,” Grayson says with a frustrated sigh. “We need a fucking vacation.”

CHAPTER41

HENLEY

Peyton’s frantic when we arrive. “Where the hell have you been? I arrived hours ago, and they told me you were going to be late.” He waves his watch at me. “There’s late, and there’s impossible. I’m never going to get you ready in time.”

I grab onto his shoulders and hug him. “There was an incident on the yacht. We had to evacuate, and it took a while to get it swept and cleared. I’m sorry. I should have called you, but honestly, it was pretty chaotic.”

His eyes are round. “Seriously? If this is what it means to be wealthy, you can keep it. I’ll take rich. Very rich, maybe. But that’s where I draw the line. But why are we standing here talking? We need to get you ready. Go! Shower!”

Chuckling, I head into the bathroom and jump in the shower. Alone, finally, I lean against the wall and let the water flow over me. One second to breathe—it’s all I need. We’re so close to finishing this thing, but it’s taking a toll. At this point, I just pray we don’t lose anyone else. The hospital said Mitch would be fine with some rest, but Thomas lost the man on the roof. He’d been shot with a long-distance weapon. My bet is it will match the one that killed Kathleen.

If Kira was anything like her sister, I think Grayson understated the level of psycho. There’s only one enemy left. The one who’s always been there. Will he show tonight?

The banging on the door startles me.

“Hurry up!” Peyton shouts through the door.

Hurrying, I rush through my shower. Two minutes later, I’m standing in front of Peyton.

He’s staring at my hair.

I cock my head to the side, but he immediately straightens it.

“The wet hair look actually works,” he mutters to himself. “Smoky eye. Gloss. Leather shorts. It works.” He claps his hands and points to the chair in the center of the room.

I sit down and he rolls a cart up beside me.

“We’ll let your hair dry some while we do your make-up,” Peyton tells me while he searches through a pile of make-up. “We’ve got twenty minutes. Don’t talk, move only when I tell you and in the direction I tell you, and we’ll make it.”
