He opened the doors that led to the back. There on the wooden porch was a table for two set up, complete with a white cloth, decorated with candles and flowers, and laden with dishes that were clearly steaming and wine. I’m guessing Rayhan had mind-linked someone to tell them when we’d get here.

Behind the table, the outdoor fireplace was blazing brightly whilst soft music played in the background. Around the edge of the porch, lanterns stood, casting a gorgeous glow on the area. My heart skipped another beat as I realised it was for me…

“Is it okay?” he asked. I smiled, gripping the sleeve of his leather jacket.

“Okay? Seriously? I love it,” I whispered, tiptoeing to kiss his cheek. Thanks to the killer high heels, I was able to reach pretty well.

“Good, because I’m not really a pro at this stuff.”

“Really? One would think you are,” I said as he held out the chair for me, and I sat down, sighing softly when he kissed my lips before taking off his jacket and sitting down himself. My chair was closer to the fire, and the warmth hit my skin, warming me. Rayhan pulled his chair next to mine before glancing at me.

“I think Raihana and I have only done this sort of thing for Mom on Mother’s Day. Apart from that, nope.” I smiled.

“So, no girlfriends?”

“Depends. I mean, back in preschool, I had a different one daily,” he replied with a wink. I rolled my eyes.

“Oh, I’m so jealous of them,” I said sarcastically, making him smile.

“As I said, I like you jealous,” he whispered. I leaned over, and he met me halfway, kissing my lips passionately while his hand cupped the back of my neck. I moved back, placing my flower down gently, trying to calm my racing heart. “Let’s tuck in before it gets cold.”

I nodded and began helping myself to the food. There were several dishes, ranging from a grilled platter of chicken, kebabs, lamb chops, wings, and fish. Then some fries, flatbread, different curries, and pizza. My mouth watered as I took a bite of the chicken. It was as divine as it looked and smelled so good. I moaned softly. Oh, how I loved food…

I opened my eyes, feeling his intense gaze on me, and raised my eyebrows as I looked at my sexy alpha, who was clearly admiring me. Did he not realise he was so much better than I was?

“Aren’t you going to eat?” His eyes ran over me, and he smirked. “Don’t,” I warned, placing my finger to his lips. My heart was thudding. Right then, the way I felt… I was tempted to climb into his lap and ask him to mark and make love to me at that very moment. He kissed my fingertip, his hand closing around my wrist.

“All right.” I tugged free, taking a piece of chicken and holding it to his lips. He bit into it, his lips grazing my fingertip, sending tingles through me. “Thanks.”

He sat back and began eating, much to my relief. His one hand constantly caressed my cheek, arm, or leg. I didn’t know if I’d ever get used to the amount of adoration he had for me, but I would cherish it. I just hoped I could give him everything he could ever want.

We chatted a little bit more about his parents, his dad seemed like a lovely person, his friends, and his sister. I could tell he was close to his parents and sister. It was sweet. I had never known a loving family, so hearing about his, I was a little envious and wished I could one day call them my own.

One huge difference between my kind and his was that werewolves were in packs for a reason. I could tell just by listening to him that his pack meant a lot to him. Then there was my kind who only used family members for their abilities. Sadly, men were mainly pawns to impregnate women from the older witch’s family. The stronger the family the male was from, the more the oldest families wanted them. There was just power and how beneficial you were to the Coven.

No, I couldn’t forget all the werewolves who had hurt me… but I was learning that they were just a small number compared to the majority.

We had finished our food and were onto our dessert, which had been set to the side, when Rayhan sat back, taking out a small box from his jacket pocket. It was a simple sleek white box with the word VRAI written on it.

“I thought a small present for our first official date would be fitting,” he said, opening the box. Inside on a velvet cushion was a gold bracelet set with clear stones. It dazzled brighter than any piece of jewellery I had ever seen. It was beautiful…

He took it out of the box, unlatching the clasp before taking my hand with the other, and smoothly slipped it around my wrist. It was slightly heavier than I was expecting, but I absolutely loved it, watching as he clasped it shut.

“Thank you… it’s… really beautiful,” I whispered softly. My first ever proper gift from someone I loved… my eyes stung, but I forced a smile onto my face.

“Hey, I thought you’d like it? Just please tell me those are female tears of happiness,” he joked with a wink.

“They are… I just... it’s beautiful,” I said, moving my wrist and admiring the sparkle. “I’ve never owned anything so shiny before.” His sexy chuckle made my eyes snap to him, and I squinted my eyes suspiciously. “What are you laughing at?”

“You really are a kitten. They tend to like shiny things, too.” He winked. I rolled my eyes, but despite that, I couldn’t stop the smile from gracing my face.

“Well, you fell for a kitten then.”

“Without a doubt…” His eyes ran over my face, his knuckles caressing my cheek. “Goddess, you’re beautiful.”

“Rayhan! Stop it! That’s too many compliments in one day! You know if I sat here and went on about howhandsome you are, I’m sure you’d get tired of it.”

“Oh yeah? Try me. I don’t think I’d mind my girl telling me exactly how hot she finds me.”
