She licked her lips again, opening her mouth and flicking her tongue. “That’s it, open nice and wide,” he said as he eased into her mouth. Those beautiful lips squeezed him, sending his eyes rolling back in his head.

Each time with her felt like the first, only better. And yet this time it felt as if she was controlling the situation and him. Not that he minded her taking control. But if she thought she was going to return to his pack with him and condemn herself…

Her nails dug into his ass as she pressed her face against his belly and sucked him deep. Fuck, but that felt amazing!

The moment she opened her mouth to take a deep breath, he pulled out and slid down her body, pinning her to the mattress with his torso. “You don’t control me, angel. Even with the bond connecting us.”

“I don’t want to control you. And I won’t be controlled by you,” she said as he nudged her legs apart and slid his cock through her wet folds. “Missing the target, Maddox. And here I thought you had better aim than that.”

“Angel, that sassy mouth of yours is going to get you in trouble.”

“Promise?”

With one thrust, he slid into her. Ecstasy and peace flooded him through the bond and he nearly lost control. He wanted to last for her, and for him. Perhaps that was selfish, but he didn’t want quick with her. Forever. That’s what he wanted with her, but life had other plans for him.

“This isn’t the end,” she said, as if she knew what he was thinking. Perhaps she did. She sensed him through the bond as easily as he sensed her. It was a good sign; they were meant for one another.

“You have an interesting perspective on life, considering we’re in a glorified cell.”

“I gave you up once. I’m not going through that again,” she said, that confidence of hers always giving him such pride. His female wasn’t one to give up.

As his thrusts intensified, she tilted her head back and closed her eyes. She was a vision, long blonde hair spread out around her head, ample breasts bouncing with each thrust, and always that beautiful expression on her face. One that spoke of complete and utter peace.

When he’d first called herangel, he had intended to irritate her, to make her hate him, but he’d chosen an apt nickname. She glowed, not just her beautiful face and sublime body, but the part of her that traveled across the bond. She was and always would be his light.

“Maddox!” she started to scream out as her back arched. He swallowed her cry with his mouth, loving how her body fit so nicely against his. He finally let go, spilled inside her, wondering if maybe he’d leave her with a child. It was all the more reason to ensure she didn’t come with him. He would not allow a child of his to be raised in his pack.

“Damn, I missed you,” she said as she threaded her fingers through his hair.

“We shouldn’t have done that. We need to escape while it’s still dark.”

“No regrets, Maddox.”

He nodded. “No regrets, angel, but I need to get you out of here while the humans are at a disadvantage in the dark.”

“That includes me still. I’m not shifter yet.”

“You’re shifter. We just have to figure out how to entice your wolf out. Then you’ll have all our abilities.”

“My father did something to me when I was a child. Gave me something to cage my wolf.”

He could feel her loss through the bond, grief for a wolf she didn’t yet know. It made him angry for her, for what her father had taken from her, but he couldn’t let her worry about what was out of her control.

Maddox grabbed her face in both of his hands. “Whatever he did doesn’t change what you mean to me. Even if your wolf is permanently trapped, I’ll still love you. It just means you’ll have to trust me to lead you in the dark, to be your eyes.”

She nodded. “I trust you.”

“Good.” He could see the complete trust there and it amazed him.

“But we can’t leave yet. Not without Tiernan and Rafe.”

That was the last thing he was expecting her to say. Drake had informed him that Rafe was with Agent Gallagher at the DSA. “They’re here?”

“They arrived last night and they’re being held in the middle building.”

When he rose from the bed, he stepped on the shiv she’d made. He refused to leave her only a lousy wooden shiv as protection. “I’ll get you out of here first, find a place to hide you, then I’ll return for them.”

“Not on your life,” she said as she shot from the bed and started dressing. “You and the others keep forgetting I’m a federal agent.”
