She approached Rafe, who held himself perfectly straight. The alpha heir didn’t even twitch a muscle when her hand caressed his chest and moved lower. “Rafe is just being cautious.”
“Let’s get this over with,” Tiernan said, as on edge as when his wolf had been going feral.
“Talk, Tiernan. What’s bothering you?” Maddox asked.
“This situation doesn’t feel right.”
“Never ignore a scout,” Maddox said to Rafe.
“She’ll be fine,” Rafe said, but his voice didn’t sound as confident as Maddox would have liked. It was enough for Alyssa, though, as she kissed each of them on the cheek and darted toward the gym.

ALYSSA
As Alyssa entered the gym,her thoughts remained on the three shifters she’d left outside. They worked well together, and each was willing to share her. Even Maddox didn’t seem opposed to the idea. It was the damn blood-bond that was causing the rift. And she couldn’t blame him. He wanted to feel as if she were as much his as she was Tiernan’s.
She walked down the long corridor, past the locker rooms and restrooms. The clanking of weights and the smell of sweaty men reached her before she opened the door to the fitness room.
“You,” Jason said as he exited the weight room.
“Hello to you, too,” she replied.
“What the hell are you doing here?” he asked as he folded his arms over his chest and blocked the door.
“I’m here to catch a killer. Step aside.” She glared at him until he finally moved.
The moment she entered the weight room, the hairs on the back of her neck rose as the five men in the room stopped lifting weights. All eyes turned to her.
Kevin released the leg press, letting the weights slam down. “Well, well, well, the fugitive has returned.”
“We need to talk. All of us,” she said.
“We thought you’d be in the Bahamas by now,” Nash said.
“Run and take the blame for one of you? No way.”
“Are you implying one of us killed Graves?” Ike asked, lifting the barbell.
She tapped her nose and pointed to him. “And Kevin said you weren’t smart enough to be here.”
Ike let his barbell slam to the floor and headed straight for Kevin. Nash intercepted. “She’s playing you. Trying to cause trouble.”
“He’s right,” Alyssa agreed as she started removing the twenty-pound weights from each side until the barbell was bare. “About playing you, not about trying to cause trouble. I’m hoping you men can put aside your preconceived notions for a few minutes and think objectively about what’s going on here. In other words, act like agents for a few fucking minutes.”
“You killed Graves,” Nash said. “Nothing to think about.”
“And why would I kill Graves?”
“Because your father ordered you to. To destroy this program. The DSA is the biggest threat to the WSSO.”
“I changed my name to hide from him, not because I work for him. But you don’t have to believe me. I’m not here to convince you of my innocence. I’m here to tell you that right now, shifters are going through your belongings to find the real murder weapon.”
“There are no shifters left,” Ike said. “Most are dead and the others ran off.”
“Except the one she’s screwing,” Nash said.
“Does that offend you?” she asked.
