“Are you happy to be home?” Maureen asked.

“Aye ma, I’m very happy. I had fun, but it’s always good to be home.” Moira answered.

“Aye, that’s very true.” Kiernan agreed.

About half an hour later, Moira and her parents were in her apartment. As Moira and Maureen headed into the bedroom, Kiernan set about making them all some coffee. Silently, Maureen and Moira started unpacking her two suitcases. Moira found herself starting to say something to her mother about Cord but stopped herself at the last minute. No, she would wait till Sunday dinner at her childhood home before she brought up Cord O’Brien.

“I hope you took pictures.” Maureen stated, dropping a pile of shirts in the hamper.

“Oh, aye I did, and no, not on just my phone. I finally got the chance to use that camera Laura gave me last year.” Moira grinned. The pictures on her phone were mostly of her and Cord anyway.

“I hope you will bring it on Sunday and show us all of them.” Maureen said.

“Of course.” Moira nodded, as she dropped the last of her vacation clothes in the hamper.

She and her mom tucked the suitcases into the hall closet and the two women walked into the kitchen where Kiernan had just finished fixing them their coffee. Over coffee, Moira filled her parents in about her trip, again, not quite telling them everything about Cord. When she told her mom about the recipe she had gotten from Amelia, Maureen insisted on getting a copy to make it for Sunday dinner.

“Well, yer ma and I are heading home. You just relax and we’ll see you on Sunday.” Kiernan said, rising from his chair then helping Maureen to her feet.

“We’re glad you’re home.” Maureen replied, hugging Moira.

“I’m glad to be home too ma. I’ll see you on Sunday.”

Moira walked her parents to the door and stood there as they climbed back into the car. She waved as they backed out and drove off. Sighing, Moira reentered the apartment. She headed into her bedroom, grabbed a change of clothes, and took a relaxing shower. Fresh and clean again, Moria moved into her living room and clicked on the TV.

Cord

“Collie!” Cord called out, spotting his brother at the gate.

“Welcome back.” Collen laughed.

Cord hugged his younger brother. “It’s good to be home. So, fill me in on how things are going.”

“Things are going fine. The bars are starting to get a bit busier now that school is out. We hired a new bartender at the Bronx location. Her name is Joanie. We also took on a few new waitresses at the Manhattan bar.” Collen began.

Cord frowned, “Why does that name sound familiar?”

“Probably because she and I were friends back in school.”

“Wait, THAT Joanie? The one that tutored you in psych?”

“The same one. She applied and out of the four others she was best. Wait till you see for yourself, she’s freakin’ awesome and the other staff there like her.”

“Do you know when she’s working again?”

Collen pulled out his phone as Cord picked up his bags. “Looks like she’s working tomorrow night.”

“Then I’ll swing by tomorrow night and reintroduce myself and check her out. Course, if you say she’s good that means she is.” Cord nodded, falling into step with Collen as they headed for the parking garage.

Once in Collen’s truck, Cord pulled out his own phone and turned it back on. He found a text from Moira letting him know she was back home safe and sound and relaxing. Cord would call her in a little bit after he got home, unpacked, and showered off the travel. After shooting off a text to Moira letting her know he was back, he caught a smirk on Collen’s face. “What?”

“Nothing.” Collen chuckled.

“Spit it out Collie.” Cord pushed.

“Fine, I was just thinking it’s kinda funny seeing you grinning like an idiot. I’m guessing you were texting Moira.”

Cord sighed, “Yes. I don’t know what it is about her, but from the moment I met Moira it was like bam! We just clicked Collen.”
