“Oh yeah, we’ve got tickets for you guys. We’d love to have you here!”

“So would I.” Jaxson chuckled, finally relaxing back into the recliner as the spontaneous plan seemed to be working out. “I mean, as long as I can convince Emma’s parents to watch the twins, I’d love to see your club and drag my subs there for some fun.”

“I’m sure you can convince them,” Lukus replied, laughing along with him. A woman’s voice buzzed in the background, and Jax figured it was his sub, whose name was…

Fuck. Theresa? No. Tabitha? No.

Shit, shit, shit.

“They’ve offered to watch them for an overnight several times already, so I think they’ll jump at the opportunity. One more thing… I’m sure this is a long shot, but is there any chance you have one of your on-site suites still available, or would we need to grab a hotel room in the city?”

“No way, man, you guys don’t need a hotel room. I had a suite set aside in case we needed it, and it’s all yours,” Lukus answered, and the phone sounded muffled for a moment before he came back. “What day do you think you’d come into town?”

“The day of the party. I haven’t mapped it, but we can probably drive down there in a few hours on New Year’s Eve and just drive back up here the next day. Does that work for you guys?”

“That works great. Tiffany and I look forward to showing you around The Punishment Pit.”

Tiffany! That’s her name. I need to put that in my fucking phone.

“Thanks, Lukus. I really appreciate you letting us join at the last minute.”

“Just returning the hospitality,” he replied before chuckling over his next words. “Of course, we’re not as fancy as Black Light, but we make up for it in raw kink.”

“I don’t give a shit about fancy. We just need to blow off some steam before I bend one, or both, of my subs over in front of Emma’s parents.”

Lukus’ next laugh was loud, and Jaxson grinned at the image of a stunned Linda and Robert that flickered through his head.

“Well, I guess it’s a good thing our party is coming up.”

“Definitely,” Jax confirmed. “Thanks again. I’ll reply to the official email so your admin team doesn’t bitch. We’ll see you guys on New Year’s Eve.”

“Sounds good. See you then.”

Hanging up, Jaxson was surprised how much lighter he felt. He’d survived five days, so he could do five more if it meant getting to play with Emma and Chase at a club again. Kid-free for the whole night.

Plus, it would be good to strengthen their business relationship with Lukus and The Punishment Pit, and since they would be staying on-site, there really was no reason to refuse to go.

Tapping out a quick confirmation email, Jaxson sent it off and switched over to the Maps app to check out the drive.About three hours. Not great, but not too long either.

“And then I can deal with Emma’s sass before we even head home.” He was already turning over ideas in his head for both his subs when he heard Chase talking loudly and laughing as they approached the back door of the house.

Adjusting his jeans, Jax stood up to meet them as they stomped off the snow and hung up their coats in the mud room. To his surprise, Emma was one of the first through the door and the rosy flush in her cheeks from the cold made her look even more beautiful as she tilted her head, studying him.

“You look like you’re in a much better mood,” Emma said cautiously, clearly suspicious about his change in spirits, and Chase quickly picked up on it too as Jaxson smiled at them both.

“I’m in a great mood,” he replied, tucking Emma against his side to hug her tight.

“Good news?” Linda prompted, brushing off the snow on Alicia’s pants.

“I hope so. We’ve got some friends in Chicago who just invited us to a little New Year’s Eve party, and I tentatively told them we’d love to come.” Jaxson turned on his charming smile as he looked from Emma’s surprised face into her mother’s excited one. “Of course, that depends if grandma and grandpa want to keep Alicia and Drew for a night.”

“Yes! Oh my God, yes!” Clapping her hands, Linda seemed even more excited than he was.

“What’s happening?” Robert asked from inside the mud room.

“Emma and the boys are going to a little New Year’s Eve party in Chicago, so we get to keep the twins for a night!”

“That’s good. Date nights are important.” Robert had a squirming Andrew in his arms as he stepped out of the mud room and he kicked the door shut before he released the boy to join his sister, who was already making noise with one of the new toys in the living room. “Marriage isn’t easy, you know. It takes work. And you three have twice the work — I think. I mean you each have to keeptwopeople happy instead of just one.”
