“Oh shit, I didn’t even consider that,” I replied, thinking of the chaos small children could bring.
Riley gave her brother a look. “You know, I don’t care if you go in the bathroom and join the sky sex club or whatever. Don’t get blue balls on my account, you prudes.”
Wow, really? Usually, her favorite sport was cockblocking.
I howled with laughter. “Evan’s already part of the sky sex club.”
Evan’s hand went over his face. Yeah, this was too much fun.
“This is why I live at school.” She tackled me.
For a moment we grappled on the couch. Finally, she grabbed the remote and turned the movie back on.
I grabbed some more sodas and candy to try to keep Riley entertained so one of the alphas could sneak off with Evan and settle him.
My phone buzzed. It was Cam, from work, along with some information I’d requested.
Cam
You owe me so much.
Oh, I knew it. Between her and Lexi I’d had shifts covered, background checks pulled, and so many other little things.
But Grace was safe. And that was worth it.
Chapter Fifty-Two
Wes
The limo pulled into the luxury waterfront resort. The sprawling property was landscaped to the hilt, bedecked with palm trees and fountains, and we hadn’t even pulled up to the main building yet.
“Bren, can you buy this place? It’s nice.” Riley looked out the window as a family walked through the parking lot, hand in hand, probably to find dinner, since the sun was starting to set.
Brennan shook his head. “This isn’t my kind of property. Though if Grace is going to be spending any time here, it might be worth looking to see if there’s something local that would be suitable. Or just get us a small place.”
“That’s a good idea,” I replied.
“I’m guessing she will.” Riley shrugged. “Given you know, they’re trying to make a fake super collider, and PIIP does a shit-ton of work with them. Not to mention the military and research implications.”
“So, you’re assigning yourself to that project?” I asked. “I could really use you in my department.”
“That project? No, it’s boring as sausage on a Tuesday. But I’ll come up with a better one. What about her beach house? That could be here,” Riley said.
Why was sausage on a Tuesday boring? I wasn’t sure I wanted to know.
“Um, I told Spence he could pick.” Bren looked at me. “That’s okay?”
“It’s fine. You know it’s going to be a villa overseas or something, right?” I replied. Grace deserved it.
“We did get Evan a forest mansion.” Brennan shrugged.
We pulled up to the front of the columned white building, with awnings, a revolving door, and uniformed bellhops with brass carts.
The five of us got out and went inside the lavish, airy lobby with lounge areas nicer than our living room, a cart of tea and snacks, tasteful art work, and a fucking fish pond.
Brennan checked his phone, then looked at the map on one of the walls. “He’s in villa four. He gave me the access code.”
Riley came over to us with a handful of colorful sandwich cookies. “We’reon the beach. We’re not leaving tomorrow right?”
