“You’re a sex educator, do you want to lead it, Evan?” Brennan goaded. “Riley, I really appreciate you being comfortable enough with us to ask us questions like this. As far as I can tell, alphas can bond thetas. Then, you can bond an omega through an alpha. Like how Jett and Evan are bonded through me.”

“Oh. I can have a pack and mates and all that right? Even though I’m a theta?” For a moment her voice went small.

“Yes,” Evan assured. “While thetas have a tendency to be loners, that doesn’t mean they don’t have mates.”

Riley gave him the side-eye.

“He’s right. I know a few, and while I think only one has a pack, they’re all mated, mostly to betas, because thetas don’t like to be told what to do. But I suppose if you have the right alphas, the right people, you could absolutely have a pack and thrive in it,” Brennan assured her. “You’re doing okay with us.”

“There are packs without alphas,” I added. Such as all-beta packs, and the occasional omega pod, which was an all-omega pack.

She thought about it for a moment. “Yeah, okay. I’d just need a backhouse, but why not? Hey, what’s my superpower as a theta?”

“Superpower?” Wes asked as Evan buried his face in his shoulder.

I mean,Icould feel that Grace was getting all the sex, so I could only imagine what Evan and Wes were feeling.

“You know, Alphas have knots or locks, omegas are sex gods, betas are generous lovers. What are thetas?” Riley prodded.

“I’m a professional and can answer this,” Evan mumbled over and over as if trying to gear himself up for it.

Again, I was here for this conversation.

“I’ve got this, Evan,” Brennan started. “According to the paper I read, thetas generally have no gag reflex, they also are really good at a type of circular breathing that allows them to breath while their mouth is, um, full.”

“You’ve read papers about thetas?” Riley slurped her soda again.

He had. I’d looked over some of them, too.

“Of course. With two new designations in the pack, I’ve been doing all the research I can. There’s a lot more on thetas than gammas. Do I even want to know why the military would have an interest in the gamma danger response?” Brennan looked at us.

“Gammas in battle sounds like chaos,” I replied. Though that could be just what some black ops team needed to disrupt governments and shit. No wait, that’s what they used kappas for.

Riley frowned, hard. “How is having no gag reflex a superpower?”

I tried not to laugh as Evan looked uncomfortable.

“It’s like what female alphas can do, butmore,” Brennan replied tentatively.

Riley set down her soda, grabbed her phone, and frowned.

“Yeah, I’d be careful what group chat you ask that in.” I stole her phone.

“Just tell me.” She knocked her shoulder into mine and took it back.

Fine.

“Blowjobs,” I replied.

I knew she knew what those were. Not just from her friends. Evan did have general sex and relationship talks with her, but I could understand how a conversation about thetas being particularly talented at blowjobs could get uncomfortable.

“Um, I can send you an educational video. You could also talk to Grace,” Evan said, looking a bit uncomfortable. “I’m sure she’d love to chat with you about all sorts of things.”

“Okay, still not sure how that works, but whatever.” Her eyes rolled.

“Again, thank you for being comfortable enough to discuss things like this with us,” Brennan told her. “You can talk to any of us about anything–even your brother. Though I understand that you might want to speak with certain people about specific things. One thing I have never doubted about Grace is her care for you. I think she’d speak with you about anything you’d like. That being said, don’t feel like you have to. We can find other people for you to talk to–Katie or Lexi or your sisters for example.”

Riley snorted. “Yeah, not talking about blowjobs with my sisters–or yours. I like Grace. While I’m glad she and Spencer are going to change the world with their computer program, I can see her teaching high school. Don’t know what her mom was thinking, wanting her to teach kindergarten. I’m envisioning the gamma danger reaction in that sort of environment.”
