My wolf races off to the direction she came from but I can’t move. My limbs refuse to cooperate as I watch where she disappeared.
My heart pounds within me, my neck once again heating and I don’t even touch it this time, my hands stay loosely by my sides as I take in the fact that everything just changed.
Later, when I asked my father about a girl with light hair, he told me he didn’t know of anyone like that, that I imagined it.
After looking and not finding her… I stupidly believed him.

Darius
Now
“What is wrong with her!” I snarl, pacing back and forth as Belldame and Anna look over Rhea.
I’m close to her, watching their every move as they start to remove her clothes.
I turn and snarl at my brothers standing at the entrance to the cave, and they get the message and slowly back away. Their concern for me making them hesitate for just a moment.
“We will be here,”Leo tells me.
They all came when I ordered them to get Belldame down the link. I had to tell them exactly where I was, how could I not.
They need to help her, knowing where Rhea’s cave is, be damned.
“Grab the salve, Anna, start at her thigh.” I look on closely as I see her injured thigh, a furious growl releasing from me as I mentally catalog all of the other bruises and cuts.
“Fuck!” I run my hands through my hair, gripping it tightly as my power moves at my feet with every step I take.
“Alpha Darius, control yourself,” Belldame chastises.
But how can I when they have my moon in their hands?
And she’s not. Waking. Up.
It’s been too long since I laid eyes on my little wolf. Of feeling like I’m torn in half and there is no light to guide me from the dark.
It’s been a slow torture, a slow decay of my soul. And now she’s finally here, within my sight. And she’s likethis.
I look at her now.
At the sweat dotting her naked skin, my eyes go to her chest to make sure it moves.
One beat.
Two.
It rises, and my breath rushes out of me in relief. I move closer, sitting on the furs next to her head, uncaring that Belldame and Anna can see my weakness as I place my hand on her head and stroke it through her hair.
I will gladly let the lands know she is my weakness and revel in it if they can make her better.
“She’s hurt here too,” Anna says gently, placing salve on her arm. My jaw clenches, and Belldame raise her eyes to me in warning.
I squeeze my eyes shut to control the anger that’s threatening to bubble over. My power swirls where I sit, moving closer to her and touching her bare shoulder.
Goosebumps pepper her skin at the touch as I try to cool her.
She’s burning up.
