Roxanne took Kendall in her arms. “Outlaw—”
Christopher raised his hand. If Megan didn’t open her mouth and ask him to give Johnnie a reprieve, that motherfucker was dead.
Mort placed a hand on Christopher’s shoulder. “If Red was in danger, he would’ve voted for lockdown, Prez.”
“He fucked with Megan.” Christopher glared in her direction, aching for her, wanting her back. “You think I ain’t fuckin’ up Johnnie for all the hurt he put her through?”
Kendall turned to Johnnie and hugged him. Closing his eyes, he embraced her, kissing away the tears streaking her cheeks.
“Torie put her through a lot too,” Bunny grouched, adding her two cents.
“We don’t fuck up girls, Bunny,” Digger said. “You know that.”
“Neither do we kill family,” Bailey said.
Butnothingfrom Megan.
“Let’s go, Johnnie,” Christopher said in a hard voice, removing his .9mm from the shoulder holster under his cut, and pointing it at Johnnie’s head.
And finally it worked. Hefinallygot a reaction from Megan. Tears broke through her emotionlessness.
“Put the gun away, Christopher. You’re such a psycho.”
It didn’t hit the same way in this devastated tone. Still, he picked up the gauntlet. He lowered his piece.
“But I’myourpsycho. Always. And right now I ain’t able to reason nothin’ out. You hatin’ on me. Hatin’ on Johnnie. Not callin’ me down.”
“How I feel about him has nothing to do with if you hate him or want him dead.”
Christopher growled, raised his gun again. “You not a fuckin’ cold-blooded bitch. You not fuckin’ bloodthirsty.”
She pressed her lips together.
“You don’t want to do this, Outlaw,” Val said faintly, panting like he’d run a marathon.
“Don’t shoot him,” Megan said quietly, still sitting in her seat. “Johnnie’s your brother. Kendall’s husband. My brother-in-law.”
She didn’t mean it. She truly didn’t give a fuck if Johnnie died.
Johnnie heard it, too. They all did. Christopher’s hand dropped to his side.
“Meggie,” Kendall whispered.
She lifted her gaze to Kendall, stared at her a moment, then nodded.
“You can’t kill him, Christopher. Johnnie’s on my no-kill list.”
Derby cleared his throat. Laughed nervously. “Am I?”
Megan swung her gaze to the motherfucker, then glanced at Gypsy. “Bash would’ve taken me,” she said quietly. “You saved me until Christopher arrived, Derby.”
Derby glanced at Christopher, wary. “I’m, uh, the Hounds are a Dweller support club. I had no choice.”
“You might be a jerk to Gypsy, but I think you care about her enough to where you wouldn’t risk her. You knew Bash was coming. I don’t doubt you feared Christopher’s wrath, but Gypsy could’ve come here to plead your case. You got wind of Bash’s plans and made a snap decision to use Gypsy to save me.” She lifted her gaze to Christopher but continued talking to Derby. “You fraternized with the enemy to assist me, not out of disloyalty or betrayal. You didn’t tell Christopher in advance because you feared how he might take it.”
“This is different, Megan,” Christopher growled. “Johnnie’s my brotherandthe club’s vice-president. His betrayin’ me fucks over the club, too.”
“Do you want to kill Johnnie?”
