Our eyes met and held, causing me to squirm in my seat from the intense look he gave me. It made me feel giddy inside.
A'Mylo chuckled. "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen." He winked.
I could only gawk at this man, seeing that he was a flirt. If he was flirting with me, I liked it too much. Gosh, I needed to get laid, or this man needed to get the hell out of my office and far away from me. We needed to get back to business.
"Okay, so I need you to mark the ones you want to look at, and we can go from there." I retrieved a pen from the cupholder and gave it to him.
A'Mylo began to mark the ones he wanted. When he was done, he handed me the pen and paper. I placed them down on my desk and stood up with a smile on my face.
"Has anyone ever told you that you have a beautiful smile?"
I quickly wiped the smile off my face, causing him to laugh. I wasn't going to feed into anything he said to me. There was no way I was about to come off as easy, especially to this fine ass man.
"That is all I need from you today. I'll make sure I reach back out to you soon with the next step." I grabbed a business card from my cardholder and gave it to him. "If you have questions before I reach out, here are my work and cell numbers." I gave both numbers to my clients, as I wasn't always in the office, in case they needed me.
"Word. I'll do that." A'Mylo stored the card in his back pocket.
I walked around my desk and stood in front of him. I held out my hand for him to take it, and he did. I felt the same sparkI had felt earlier and didn't know what to make of it. "It was nice meeting and talking with you."
He gazed down at me, causing a slight flutter to settle in my stomach. "Likewise. We'll be in touch." He still held on to my hand until I made a move to remove it.
I walked him to the door and opened it. When he walked out, I closed it quickly and leaned against it. "Lawd, that man is fine!"
"Nini,"I called out when I entered my daughter's Minnie Mouse-themed bedroom.
She was down on the floor, playing with her dolls. When she heard her name called, she twisted her little body and jumped up from the floor.
"Daddy!" She ran into my outstretched arms.
I hugged her tight to me and dropped a kiss on her cheek. "How's daddy's baby girl doing?" I put her down on the floor, and she went back to her toys.
"I'm good, playing with my toys. Am I going with you today?"
I felt guilty about telling her she wouldn't be able to go today. Nini wanted to be with me every day if she could. Since I had been working a lot lately, I stopped by to see my baby girl. Ididn't always get her on the weekends. When I didn't get her, I'd stop by to see her during the week.
"Not today, Nini. I'll get you on the weekend, okay?"
Her shoulders dropped as her head bowed to her chest. "Okay."
I took a seat on the floor next to her. "You know you can come with me anytime you want, but this week, Daddy has a lot of work. As soon as I get off on Friday, I'll come get you," I promised.
She nodded stiffly. "I understand."
My heart was crushed. "What do you say to going to get ice cream?" I suggested having to do something to get that expression off her face.
She smiled. "Oh yeah! Yes!"
I grinned, happy that it worked. I hated seeing my baby sad.
"Let me go talk to your moms."
She went back to playing, and I got up from the floor and left her bedroom to find her mother.
Nyla was in the kitchen at the stove, talking on the phone.
I took a minute to scan the place, seeing that she had changed the color of her kitchen yet again. This time it was painted a peach color. She had a kitchen table by the window that overlooked the parking lot. A small island was connected to the living room. On her stove, she kept pots and pans. One thing I could say about Nya was that she always kept food cooked, her kitchen stayed clean, and she was going to keep a candle lit. This time, the aroma in the kitchen smelled of peaches.
"Ny?" I called out.
