"I'm okay. Watching YouTube on my iPad."
I sat her back down on the floor. "Oh yeah? Can Daddy have a little of your time? I need to talk to you about something."
She nodded and went to sit on the edge of her bed, and I joined her.
How in the hell was I going to tell my daughter I have a woman in my life, and it could get serious?
I blew air out of my mouth. "You know how, for a long time, you asked if your mother and I were going to be a family."
Nini nodded. "Are you?"
I shook my head quickly, dismissing that. "Nah, that's not going to happen. Daddy has found someone else, and she makes me very happy."
She beamed. "Really?"
I nodded. "Yes. What do you say about meeting her?"
A sad expression went across her face. "Will Mommy be mad at me if I do?"
I frowned, wondering why she'd ask that. "No, Mommy won't be mad at you."
"Okay then. I'd like to meet her. I hope she's nice."
I chuckled. "She's very nice..." I lied like hell just now. Leighton be mean to me all the time with her always saying no.
"Oh, good."
I hugged her close and kissed her cheek. I stayed and kicked it with Nini for a while before heading home to get ready for my date with Leighton.
"Wassup, beautiful? Damn, you look good," I greeted as I stepped inside Lee's house. "You smell good, too." I held out my arms for her to hug me.
I needed her to be in my arms. When we embraced, I dropped a kiss on her cheek and inhaled her strawberry scent. I had to pull away from her. If I didn't, she'd feel my erection.
"You're glowing, baby. You should keep that look on your face every day. Are you happy to see me?" Leighton's dark skin complexion seemed brighter as the smile on her face widened. "I like your hair, by the way, but I love the curls even more." She straightened her hair out and wore it in a ponytail.
She gave me a sheepish grin. "I needed a new style, especially when I don't know what you planned for us today."
I touched her cheek, wanting to lower my head and kiss her lips. She gazed at me, nibbling on her bottom lip. Yeah, I had to kiss her now, so I lowered my head and dropped a kiss on her sweet lips. I didn't want to pull away, but knew it was for the best that I did.
She cleared her throat, dipping her head to her chest. "Let me go get my purse, and I'll be ready." She hurried away from me.
With Leighton gone, I observed her place. She had it decorated in turquoise and gray with a hint of white. I noticed no family pictures hung on the wall, but there were some of her and her friends. Plants had been placed in different corners of her living room. I heard her making her way back into the living room area, her purse slung across her body.
Leighton stood in front of me with her hands on her hips. "You never told me where we were going."
I grinned. "Oh, I didn't? I guess you'll have to find out when we get there."
Honestly, I didn't have a clue what I wanted us to do. Currently, I'd like us to have lunch. I had to find things for us to do for the whole day.
I opened the door and allowed Lee to walk ahead of me before I waited patiently for her to lock up. I had the urge to kiss her again as I gazed at her, but I settled for holding her hand as we walked toward the car together.
"You have a big porch. Do you spend a lot of time outside?" I asked when we arrived at the car.
"No, I don't. Whenever I have time for myself, I'm usually in the house, journaling or making journals."
I opened the passenger door for her, and before she slid in, she looked at me with desire in her eyes. If only she knew that look would have me forgetting about taking her out. I'd take her back inside and have my way with her. Once she snapped her seatbelt in place, I went to get in the driver's side of the car.
I started the engine, looking over at her yet again, causing her to eye me too. Before we could stop ourselves, we leaned over the console and touched lips. Our tongues briefly twirled in each other's mouths. Regretfully, I pulled away from her and drove out of her driveway. I watched out of the corner of my eye as she fanned herself. I chuckled, trying to remember what we were discussing before I got in the car.
