“I can’t believe this.” Dimitra stood, “We’re all having babies together.”

Sarifena stood and pulled her into a hug, “This is amazing! Let’s go find Jason.”

“Jason.” Dimitra whispered, “We aren’t even married yet. What if he’s not happy about this.”

“He’s going to be ecstatic, let’s go. I’ll see you later.” Sarifena kissed her husband goodbye and ushered Dimitra out of the room.

“Dimitra,” Jason stood propped against the wall, “Why didn’t you tell me something was wrong?”

He pulled her hand into his, lacing their fingers.

“I’ll talk to you both in the library.” Sarifena smiled at him as she stepped back into the room where they’d left Heath, leaving them alone in the hallway.

“I wasn’t sure it was anything to worry about, I didn’t want to scare you.”

“What did Heath say? Are you sick?”

“Not exactly.” Dimitra ducked her face, staring at the floor.

“Baby, you can tell me. Whatever it is, we will work through it.”

“I’m pregnant.” She blurted out.

“What did you say?”

Dimitra glanced up at him, “I said, I’m pregnant. About two months along.”

Jason pulled her into a fierce embrace and buried his head against her shoulder. Dimitra melted against him, her arms wrapping around his body. The tension she’d been carrying evaporated instantaneously.

“You’ve made me the happiest man.” His breath tickled her neck, causing her skin to prickle with goosebumps.

“You’re not mad?” she whispered.

“Mad?” he leaned back and looked into her eyes, “Why in the hell would I be mad?”

“It’s not exactly planned. I mean,” she swallowed, “we aren’t even married yet.”

Jason let go of her, his arms dropping to his side. He stared at her, almost seeming confused. Without warning, he dropped to his knee and pulled out a black box.

“I had planned on doing this at dinner, but now…” he shook his head. “Well – nothing we’ve done has gone to plan.” He opened the box revealing the most stunning diamond solitaire. “Dimitra. You were thrust into my life under the bleakest circumstances. Still, I knew the moment I laid eyes on you, I’d do anything to ensure your happiness. Life can be uncertain and hard.” He took a breath, “Loving you is the one thing I know is certain in this life. Without you, I’d lose every part of my soul. Dimitra, I can’t imagine a future without you. Would you do me the honor and become my wife? Let me love you,” he placed his hand on her stomach, “and our children unconditionally, forever.”

Dimitra’s hands flew to her face. She wiped away the unabashed tears falling. Unable to speak, she nodded her head yes and reached out to pull him to his feet. She pressed her lips to his, kissing him with the promise of eternity.

Jason broke the kiss and slipped the ring onto her finger, “I love you.”

“I love you, too.” Her arms circled his neck as he captured her mouth once more.

Dimitra leaned back, “As much as I would love to continue this,” she leaned forward and rested her head against his, “we are due in the library. Rory, Anthony, and Christine have an important announcement.”

“Tonight, you’re all mine,” Jason laced their fingers together. He held her hand tightly as they walked to their destination.

Extended Epilogue

Since combining the kingdoms, they’d built an even more massive castle. Each Queen had a wing of their own where they resided with their husbands and children. At the center of the castle, there were various rooms and meeting places, including the medical wing. Heath had been appointed as the Liege of Medicine. The other kingdoms medical staff had been sent to the towns who needed better health care. Only two of the other kingdom physicians stayed in the castle to assist Heath. The Commanders and Constables held their positions, forming one large army for the Elemental Kingdom.

Dimitra was pleased to see everyone had already arrived. Baxter was seated on the floor playing with Julie. Amalee and Dante had formally adopted Julie with Jason’s blessing. With everyone under one roof, seeing her was easy – so the adoption didn’t change their relationship. Emersyn and Drake were nestled up on the couch, happiness radiating from them. Even Onika and Luca were all smiles as Dimitra cast them a glance. Dimitra wondered if the pregnancy was to blame for her seemingly happy mood. Rory, Anthony, and Christine stood by the fireplace watching their triplets play on the floor. At six months, they were very active. Dimitra looked at the three of them. It had been a joyous moment when they came into the world – remembering Anthony’s grin when he announced he had two sons and a daughter brought a smile to her face.

Sarifena and Heath were the last to appear, hurrying in behind Dimitra and Jason. “Glad to see you make it on time.” Dimitra teased.
