Chapter 11: Paul
I tossed and turned in my bed, knowing that Carly was on her date. Who was I kidding, I loved her. With my mind made up, I decided I would tell her – put the choice in her hands. Besides, Dylan told me I was taking away her choice. Loving me was her decision after all – if she could love me.
Standing, I pulled on my jeans and padded my way towards the kitchen. Standing at the sink, I heard the front door open. I knew it was her without even having to look – my wolf recognized her essence.
“Paul.”
Her voice made my heart beat faster. Without turning around, “Carly – how was your date?”
“You really want to hear about my date?” She huffed, shifting on her feet.
Sighing, “No.”
“Fine… It was – wait… did you say no?”
Turning to face her, “Yes… I said no.”
“Oh”
Pushing off the counter, I stalked towards her. Coming to stand in front of her, “I don’t want to hear about your date, Carly.”
Pressing closer, I forced her to back up, forcing her back to the wall. Swallowing, “I don’t ever want to hear about another man when it concerns you.”
Without thinking about it anymore, I pressed my lips to hers. Claiming her mouth with mine. She resisted at first, but her body relaxed, and she opened to me. My tongue parting her lips, finding solace with hers. My wolf howled in victory, she was finally where we wanted her.
Breaking the kiss, “Paul – what are you doing?”
“What I should have done a long time ago, Carly,” I pressed my hands on the wall beside her head, “I have been a fool – I can’t go another day without you knowing how I feel.”
She inhaled sharply, “What are you saying?” slipping under my arm, she walked to the table.
Her back was to me, “Paul – if this is some sort of joke, it’s not funny.”
“Carly – it’s not a joke. I… I have always known you were meant for me, you feel it too – don’t you?”
“Yes.”
One word. It was all it took to drive my wolf mad. I could feel him bristling beneath my skin, “Yes?”
“Yes – Paul,” she turned, facing me, “I feel it. You have rejected my every advance for the last three years. THREE – do you hear what I am saying. Why now? Is it because I finally decided to let go of hope?”
“Is that what you’ve done? Let go?”
“Yes – no. I came here, planning to tell you what I wanted. And when you rejected me, I was going to try moving on.”
Pulling her into me, “Does it feel like I’m rejecting you?”
Slowly she looked up at me, “No.”
“Carly, I didn’t want you to throw away your dreams for me. You understand loving me means things will be different – for both of us. You see how it is for Dylan and Jensen. They are always connected. How could you possibly want that?”
Carly pressed herself into me further, “Paul – I can have both. I want both. I. Want. You.”
“Are you sure Carly? There’s no going back once we let this happen. Do you truly understand what being my destined mate means?”
“It means you’ll love me forever,” Carly pressed her warm lips to mine, “it means… I’ll love you forever.”
Wrapping my arms around her, I lifted her into the air, her legs instinctively wrapped around my waist. Knocking the chairs over, I moved to set her on the counter. Wedging myself between her legs, our kisses becoming more intense.
