He distances himself from me. He licks his soft pink lips. His eyes find my breasts. He inhales, then exhales. The sparkle in his eyes burst with lust, but in a second, his blood boils with hate. He clinches his jaw so tight it might snap, his breath heavy as he fists his hands into a ball.

“I fucking marked you. Your fucking date or whatever the fuck he is to you won’t want you now. I’ll ruin you for any other man. You’re mine, Mila,” he growls possessively. With that, he storms off back to his fiancée.

Shit!I finally let out a long breath I had pent up. Immediately, my inside defrosts. I stepped closer to the bathroom mirror, eyes widening at the sight of the new hickey marring my neck. I could still feel his soft lips and warm breath against my skin.

Thank God, I have my compact. I try to hide it. I can’t let Brian see; how embarrassing that would be.Jesus,I can still smell him on me, musky and masculine. What the hell was I thinking? I’m so pissed off at myself. I should have pushed him away and told him to fuck off. What a piece of shit. He left a hickey on my neck, telling me I can’t have anyone, when clearly, he left me to think he was dead. To top it off, he’s engaged. My mind is still in a fog. He’s been alive five damn years. He jostled me into the restroom to assault me and manipulate me.

Straightening my hair to cover the hickey, I hope Brian won’t see it. I return to my seat.

“Is everything okay?”

I lean to stroke Brian’s cheek pecking a kiss on his next to his lips mustering a smile. “Yeah, everything’s good. Are you ready?” I don’t spare a glance in Dominic’s direction.

Brian holds my hand as we walk out. I can feel Dominic’s eyes boring holes as we walk out. Fuck him.

Brian walks me to the door of my apartment.

“Mila, you look so beautiful tonight. I had a great time. I would like to see you again if you would like to.”

My mind falters back to Dominic and how he’s engaged. It’s time I let go of the past. Dominic certainly has.

“Sure, that would be great. I’d like that. I’ll take you up on surfing sometime.”

He bites his bottom lip, contemplating what to say. “Perfect.”

“Have a good night, Mila. Thank you for tonight.” He leans in and kisses my cheek.

“Goodnight, Brian.”

DOMINIC

My heartbeat races a hundred miles per hour as I walk back to my table where Samantha waits. I lick my lips, tasting the sweetness of the woman who betrayed me. She left me five years ago. Out of pure spite and jealousy, I followed her to the restroom. The second I pinned her to the wall; the scent of cherry and coconut invaded my nose. Her scent woke every organ in me, and fuck did she smell good. Hell, did it make a bulge in my jeans?

Selfishly, I needed a taste, a touch of her skin, her warmth. I savored the sensation of her delicate skin on my tongue, relishing in the pleasure with every stroke. I moaned with delight. I missed everything about her. It was a shitty move to make when my fiancée was waiting for me. I lost control with Mila, letting jealousy and lust take over. Leaving an enormous mark so that blond Ken doll fucker can see it. Where in the fuck has she been? I know she hasn’t been in San Diego. Last time I saw her was the day she walked out of the hospital room. We both agreed our last moments would not be by phone.

“Baby.” Samantha’s smile widens as her beautiful honey eyes search mine. I lean in to kiss her lips. “What took you so long?”

“Long line, sweetheart.”

Samantha’s a beautiful woman, but to be honest, she’s high maintenance to the extreme. I met Samantha through my mother. She works for her dad at William’s Law Firm. She’s their accountant. My mother begged me to date her. She loves Samantha and her family. I took it as an advantage, a Band-Aid to cover the wound Mila left.

“I scheduled our engagement photos for next week. Make sure you put it on your calendar, and I’ll find you an outfit,” Samantha says in her high-pitched voice.

My kiss was tender, I'm aware I'm not the best fiancé, but I'm certain I'm far from the worst. There’re measures I clearly need to work on, like maybe cuddling with her. Every time I have tried, the memory of the one girl I’d always been in love with came to mind. Samantha and I started dating about a year ago and I proposed to her a couple of weeks ago.

“Sure, sounds like a plan.”

The hairs on the back of my neck stand as they invariably have when Mila is close. Her figure is curvy and regal as she sways to her seat. Long black silky hair, big pouting lips I once kissed perpetually, her gorgeous green eyes sparkle in the light, delicious curvy body, large breasts, and that tight black dress.Jesus. She bloomed into a beautiful woman.

The waitress arrives with our pasta dishes and bread sticks. Samantha moans as she bites into her carbonara. She scoops some into my mouth. “Good?”

Wiping my mouth, I nod. “Yeah, so good.” My eyes turn to the woman who betrayed me.

She kisses the mother fucker on the cheek. He winks and grins. She keeps her hair wrapped around her neck, hiding my mark. Mila hiding my mark pisses the shit out of me. Her forest green eyes stay pinned on him. His hooded eyes lust over her, probably intoxicated by her beauty. The pain in my chest digs deeper. They walk out hand in hand. A small growl vibrates throughout my chest. Samantha chuckles, oblivious to what’s going on around her. I’ve never spoken to her about my past relationship with Mila.

“That good you have to growl like a dog?”
