Mylan points his thumb over his shoulder. “We can come back, or...”
“I’ll go get Addy,” Savannah says with a blush and heads down the hallway. She pauses to hug Lana.
Their body types are similar, but Savannah might be thicker. Lana also has dark red hair that’s currently braided and slung over her shoulder. Savannah’s blonde hair is up in a messy bun, which I absolutely love, especially how baby hairs fall around her oval face.
“If you stare at her any harder, you’ll start drooling,” Mylan says, slapping my back as I watch Savannah walk away with Banana. Lana promised she’d bring the pup over for Adeline to play with.
I ignore my friend and finish bringing dishes to the table. Shirley prepared a few options for us. Lemon chicken, honey garlic salmon, Italian salad, mashed potatoes, corn, and a pasta salad dish.
Dinner is loud, everyone talking over each other with exciting stories about their lives. I showed everyone the photo I took of Mylan asleep on set the second day of filming. That man can fall asleep anywhere, I swear. He was curled up on a cushioned mat used for falls during action scenes.
Mylan one-ups me by passing around his phone, showing everyone the video of me smacking face first into a layer of plastic that he hung on my trailer door. He loves pulling pranks on set. I wasn’t even mad that I fell on my ass and bruised my tail bone. It reminded me of our time together filmingMayhem.
I wish Jensen was here. He’s on tour with Rebecca for her new book. They have a couple months left, but he promised me they’ll come visit at some point. Maybe in October when the Renaissance Faire is being held in Fort Tryon Park. I’ve been a few times, including last year, and I always dress as a knight. The costume is still in my closet.
Would Savannah want to go?
She must sense me staring at her profile because she reaches her hand over and squeezes my knee. I want to snatch her hand and move it up my leg to my cock, but that wouldn’t be appropriate. This woman makes me want to do a lot of inappropriate things.
I glance at Adeline sitting next to Savannah. My daughter doesn’t even want to sit next to me anymore. I thought I’d be sad about that, but the way she lights up when Savannah is in the room, how she giggles and smiles at all the things this woman says... I wonder if this is what it would have been like if my sister had lived. Is this what it looks like when a little girl has a mum?
I take Savvy’s hand and weave my fingers with hers and bring them up to my lips to kiss her knuckles. No one notices, and even if they did, I wouldn’t care. Savannah blushes wonderfully and chews on her bottom lip. I wink and rest our hands in my lap as we continue chatting with our friends.
“Do you have any plans on Sunday?” Lana asks Savvy. “I was thinking we all do brunch and go shopping. Or we could go on the Staten Island Ferry or out to Coney Island.”
Savannah glances at me before answering.
“I do have plans... um...”
Lana saw the suggestive glance. She sees Savannah’s cheeks reddening.
“Adeline, have you ever been to a candy store?” Lana diverts.
Addy’s eyes widen, and she nods enthusiastically. “My old nanny took me all the time. We went for my birthday last year. I got so much candy, my tummy hurt when I ate it all.”
“Well, would you want to come with me and Mylan to Times Square on Sunday? There’s not one, but two candy stores there. M&M’s and Hershey’s! You can buy all the candy you want... I mean, if that’s okay with your dad.”
Adeline turns to me. “Can I Dad?”
“Sure, Poppy.”
Addy jumps in her seat. “Savvy, will you go with us?”
“Actually,” Lana begins, “Savvy is going to be busy... um... with your dad.”
“Wait, what?” Mylan asks, confused. “What are you two doing that you can’t come with?”
Lana punches his leg underneath the table, and he winces.
“They’re busy,” she grits through her teeth, trying to get Mylan to follow along. “Working on a very important project. But maybe Eloise and Kelly want to come.”
Adeline giggles. “Will you, Elly and Kelly?”
Adeline was thrilled when she came up with Eloise’s nickname, realizing it rhymed with Kelly’s name.
“We’d love to.” Kelly grins, catching on to what Lana is setting up.
Thankfully, my daughter doesn’t ask about the important project because then we’d have to fib some more.
