“No, I’m not wearing that Bliss, one of my outfits will be fine to wear out tonight. That thing is much too tight for my body, you do realize how big I am right?” Had her parents put her down in every aspect, for reals.

“Jessie, you have curves in all the right places, so shut up woman, you’re wearing this, and you will rock it out. I’m not letting you put on one of those body covers you call dresses to go out tonight. No way, no how, not happening. Now put this on, before I hold you down and do it myself.” I’ll give her credit, she tried to put up a good fight, she crossed her arms over her chest, and stood there with her “angry” face on. Until I made like I was coming after her, then she quickly grabbed the dress and headed to the bathroom for a shower.

“Fine, but I’m not wearing high heels. Don’t give me that look Bliss; you know I can’t walk in those things.” She yelled down the hallway toward me.

“Alright, I won’t make you wear heels, but I get to do your hair and makeup.” Darting out to the hallway, I smiled smugly daring her to say no. She flipped me the bird in response. “Now you know I don’t swing that way, quit making me offers.” Throwing the bathroom door shut, I could hear her groan in response. I was going to make her look amazing, and get her to let off some steam.

Four hours later, I’ve plucked, pulled, primped, and flattened Jessie to an even more fabulous looking Jessie. When she looked at herself in the mirror, she was shocked at the change.

“Oh my God Bliss, what did you do? I look so pretty.”

“Nah girl, you were already pretty; I just showcased it for you. You are going to break some hearts tonight girl.”

“I don’t know about that, but I definitely love how I look. Thank you.” Score, she loves it. “Look at you though, that red dress is fucking amazing on you, you have all your curves in the right areas, the perfect hourglass.” I’d chosen a low cut red gown that hugged my body like a glove; I realized while getting ready that I hadn’t been out in the last six months, and this is kind of my coming out celebration. Too bad soon I’ll have to make them all believe a lie, but I’d deal with that later; tonight we were going to party.

Right on the dot Holland got home, presto changed and we were out the door. It must be nice to be a man, shower, throw on some cologne, and boom done. He didn’t even have to shave, the asshole came walking out in his tight ass jeans and black t-shirt ready to rock. It’s not fair!

“Where are you taking us old man?”

“Old man, are you serious with that shit, this old man can dance circles around you little girl. We’re going to The Dirty Monkey, Bart and Matt, along with a few of the other guys, are meeting us there.”

“The Dirty Monkey? Bliss what kind of place are we going to?” Jessie sounded apprehensive, I had to get her to loosen up.

“Yeah, it’s one of the bars owned by a club member, don’t worry, the guys won’t let anyone bother us. Isn’t that right Holland?” Looking at him through the rearview mirror to convey he needed to back me up, he laughed at my antics.

“Sugar, you got nothing to worry about. Matt owns the bar; he won’t let anyone mess with us.” That was news to me, last time I checked the bar had been owned by another member of the club, guess things had changed while I was in school.

“Wow, Matt owns his own business, that’s pretty awesome for someone so young. I bet his mom and dad are really proud of him.” For a minute I thought I saw Jessie drooling over Matt owning the bar, she was definitely impressed with him.

“Well Matt's dad has always been proud of him, his mom died years ago though.” I wasn’t about to go into the details of her death; it wasn’t my place to reveal Matt's lousy beginnings, if he wanted her to know he’d tell her.

“Oh, I’m sure she’s proud of him wherever she is.” I nodded, but I was pretty sure that bitch didn’t give two shits about what Matt was doing, and that she was rotting in hell where she belonged. The bar came into view and she dropped the subject. “Holy moly, this is his bar?” Ok so The Dirty Monkey wasn’t a small bar, it was more like a huge ass honkey-tonk, but she would have freaked if I had told her how big it was.

“Yeah, come on let’s go get our part-ay on woman!” Dragging her out of the truck towards the entrance, Holland was quick to take up residence at our backs, towering over us by a good six inches. Bart and the guys were waiting for us at the door waving us down.

“Hey good lookin’, whatcha’ got cookin’.” Rolling my eyes at Bart’s goofy ass, I let him hug me to him; it was nice to be able to let him hold me without cringing.

“If you start singing I’m going to pretend I don’t know you, and I’ll throw peanuts at you.” He hugs me even closer as I hear laughter from behind us.

“Dude, you start singing and I’ll help her throw them; I’ll even give her some unshelled peanuts.” Matt offered happily.

“You’re supposed to back me up Matt, what the hell man?! What happened to bros before...?” Bart started to finish that sentence when Matt put his hand on his shoulder wisely and said, “Watch it man, you trying to get yourself killed tonight?”

“Thank you, Matt for saving his life, because I sure would have cut his ass if he’d finished.” Jessie is giggling behind us, causing Matt to look around to see where the sound is coming from. “Well hello there beautiful, how about we get this party started.” Reaching out his hand to her, she looks at me like a deer in headlights, Matt takes the hint and drops his hand. “Alright how about you and Bliss lead the way, we’ll follow behind so we can enjoy the show.” Always the charmer that one, but it worked and Jessie grabbed my hand walking through the door.

The music inside was bouncing playing a Carrie Underwood song; people were out on the dance floor two stepping. I noticed subtle changes in the decor inside; it was definitely updated, and it looked pretty amazing.

“Matt the place looks awesome, thanks for letting us party here.”

“For you two beautiful ladies, anything.” Smooth talker that one, and by the look of wonder on Jessie’s face she was definitely interested in him, but she was scared shitless for some reason. Time to make her loosen up, first stop, the bar.

“Come on biatch, time to get our drink on.” Pulling her over to the bar, I didn’t realize all the men followed us until we went to turn around to find them and there they were. I almost spilled my drink all over them. “Ummm...guys we’re big girls we can go to the bathroom alone and everything.” Oh shit, I shouldn’t have said that, and by the look on Bart’s face I’d say he was remembering the last time I went to the bathroom alone. “Ok never mind, we’ll stick close.” Bart instantly relaxed. “Come on Jessie, let’s go dance.” Pulling her towards the dance floor, we drop our drinks off at a table on the way; Holland sits down while Bart and Matt follow us.

“Bliss, I don’t know if I can do this.” She pulls me in to whisper loudly in my ear to be heard over the music.

“It’s alright just dance with me, they’re just here to make sure no one tries anything, ok.” She nods and starts to dance awkwardly with me. Matt stays close, he’s clearly figured out that Jessie won’t be able to deal with him against her, so he stays within arm’s reach but no further. Bart dances slightly closer, but I can tell he’s still unsure, he’s letting me come to him when I’m ready. I push down the regret I’m already feeling for the pain I’m going to cause him and pull him a little closer to my back while I dance with Jessie in the front.

The night was going great, we danced, we drank, we laughed, and then shit hit the fan. Jessie and I were out on the dance floor, Bart behind me, he turned me towards him when the slow song came on. Jessie had already started for the dance floor exit and I figured Matt would follow her off, but somehow Matt got distracted. Suddenly, Jessie was screaming her lungs out; some asshole had her by her arm about to slap her across the face. Luckily before the guy could hit her, Holland came out of nowhere landing him on his ass with one punch. Jessie was puddle on the floor when I got to her.
