“Oh my God Jess, I’m so fucking sorry, I should have made sure you made it off the dance floor.” She’s whimpering, crying, shaking, while rocking back and forth, fuck. Matt comes to our aide, picking her up, causing her to scream.
“It’s ok darlin’, it’s Matt, I’m gonna take you out of here, put your arms around my neck and hold on.” I was about to tell him to put her down, when she curled her arms around his neck like he said, well at least she wasn’t freaking out. “Come on, let’s get you two home, Holland go grab the truck and bring it to the front door.” Holland was out the door before I could even blink, while the rest of the guys were dragging the twatwaffle that had attacked her out the back door. I’d feel sorry for the ass whooping he was about to receive, but he deserved it for scaring the shit out of my girl. Bart and I followed Matt to the door, he laid her in the back seat gently, and she’d actually fallen asleep in his arms. “I’d go home with you, but I’m pretty sure she’d freak as soon as she woke up, and I want to have a little talk with that asshole. Thanks for getting her to come out Bliss, it was nice to see you both smiling.” Matt took one last look at Jessie passed out in the back seat before he left. Yeah, he had it bad for her.
“Matt’s right, it was good seeing you both smiling, thanks for coming out Babe. Can I kiss you goodnight, or is it too soon? Help me out here Bliss, I need to know.” Laughing, I pull him down to my lips, feeling his lips against mine it’s like nothing has changed, like we’re still teenage kids in love. Pressing his forehead to mine, I know he feels it too, which only makes what I’m about to do even harder. “Please let this be a new beginning for us Bliss. I love you. now get home safely.”
CHAPTER TEN
BLISS
It’s been two weeks since our little party at the bar; Jessie hasn’t said a word about what happened or offered any explanation, and I haven’t asked. When she was ready, she’d tell me. I’d given her Dr. Diaz’s number hoping she would call her. Matt checked on her practically every day, calling her to make sure she didn’t need anything, he never came over though. He was giving her space and time, both of which I knew she needed.
We are about to move into our new house that Pops decided we needed instead of an apartment. We’d tried to argue with him, but he’d decided that my own house was a great graduation present, and he’d paid cash for the damn thing so I couldn’t take it back. It wasn’t a huge mansion by any means, just a little three-bedroom ranch, but it was mine. It made me feel like shit for what I was about to do to all of them. At least Jessie would have a place to stay when I was gone, the odds of me coming back from what I was going to do was slim to none. We were busy picking through Pops hoarding shed trying to find furniture that would be perfect.
“Oh Bliss look at this, I thought he said nothing was older than the seventies, this looks like it’s ancient.” Jessie had just picked up this horrid looking lamp, some gross green color with pictures of men on horseback.
“Don’t you dare take that with us! What about this couch, it looks comfy?” It was an old rounded sectional, it was overstuffed with huge buttons along the back, and it was bright yellow, perfect to brighten up the living room.
“Yes, oh God yes, we need that. You want to yell for the guys or me?” Bart, Holland, and of course Matt, were all there to help us move the furniture into the new house.
“Let’s keep looking first and then have them come in for everything at once, if we call them now they’ll hurry us up, no way am I giving up looking through Pops’ gold mine just yet.” Two hours later and enough furniture picked out to probably decorate two houses; we finally called the guys in.
“Let’s get this stuff loaded so we can relax with a few beers to celebrate the new house.” Bart hugged me to him before starting to load things up. Tomorrow was our next group session with Dr. Diaz, even Pops was going, I prayed they would both forgive me when it was all over.
“Holy shit you two, do you think you got enough stuff?” Holland complained while lugging a bookcase out to the moving truck.
“Well since it’s just the two of us, we’ve decided to turn that third bedroom into a library. I can’t wait!” I was actually excited, I shouldn’t be, it wasn’t going to be mine soon, so I told myself I was excited for Jessie, she deserved it. Holland just rolled his eyes and kept moving shit.
“Hey Jessie, how you been doin’?” Matt had arrived after we entered Pops’ treasure trove, so he was just getting to talk to her, it was kind of cute watching the two of them together.
“Like I told you yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that, I’m doing fine, thanks for asking.” Just as she was answering him, he dropped a rather heavy ottoman on his foot, causing Jessie to run to see if he was alright. “Oh no, Matt are you alright, here let me look at it.”
“I’m fine darlin’, see my boots, no harm no foul, but you can nurse me back to health if you want to.” Jessie slapped him on his shoulder, then gasped at her own actions, running out of the shed to my car. Matt looked completely lost and amused. I shrugged my shoulders, because I didn’t know what the fuck just happened either. She stayed in the car while I finished up directing the guys to the rest of the furniture.
Unloading took no time at all because Bart called a bunch of the other club members over for the “celebration” and had them help with unloading. Pops came with food and drinks. “You shouldn’t have done all this Pops; you’ve already done so much for us.”
“This was Bart’s idea, I’m merely the delivery guy. I’m gonna leave all you youngins to party. The place looks good Baby Girl; you picked out great stuff. You know I’m proud of you, you’ve come so far these last few months.”
