“Vix, I don’t know what to tell you. One minute I was waitressing, and Lionel started his shit. In the middle of that, Razor showed up in all his glory. There was some kind of standoff between Isaias and Razor.” I take a deep breath because my next words will raise her hackles.

“Then what the fuck happened? What aren’t you telling me, Edge? I know you, and you only do that breathing thing when you think something will upset me.” Being as pregnant as she is, getting upset is the last thing she needs.

“I don’t know, Vix. It was like they knew each other. Like there was an issue. I haven’t had time to do a dig on Isaias today. All I know is I felt okay and safe with him. I can tell he has a nasty side, and crossing him wouldn’t end well, but it was so familiar and comforting in a sick way,” I admit for the first time.

“Oh, Edge, what are you going to do? From what I overheard, he is not a man to fuck with,” Candy inquires, her voice laden with so much concern I question whether I can trust my judgment.

“I promise as soon as I can hold my head up and eyes open without losing everything in my stomach, I’ll run my program on him,” I tell them, closing my eyes for just a second.

“Cannonball!” Small droplets of water rain down on me.

Sitting up with a gasp, I almost fall off my chair. Fucking Vixen and her crazy ass. “Vixen, you bitch!”

Her laughter means I have to pay her back. So, I do what any mature adult would do, I get up and take a running leap into the pool, being sure to splash her. Hitting bottom, I stay under for a moment before pushing myself to the top, sending water on Vixen again. This causes the breakout of a splash fight. We would usually be trying to drown each other at this point, but I can’t hurt my new niece or nephew.

I swim away from Vixen, getting lost in the nothingness underwater. Once I get to the other side, I pop up and tread water as I clean my eyes. A shadow falls over me, making my eyes fly open. Vixen is still at the other end of the pool, and Candy sits on the chair. I slowly turn, and one of the men from Isaias’ table last night holds out an envelope and a large bouquet.

What the fuck? I open my mouth to speak, but my very opinionated best friend speaks up first.

“Well, aren’t you fucking yummy?” Candy jokes. He looks at her, only raising an eyebrow, not saying a word.

I swim over to the side of the pool, climbing out so we are more on even ground. After everything, being the one looked down on just doesn’t work for me. I walk over to my chair, wrapping myself in a towel as two guys from the MC show up. With Vixen here, they weren’t going to be far, but something about this man unsettled them enough to make their presence known.

“Miss Vice, these are for you from Isaias,” he finally says after handing over the flowers and card. I don’t get a word out before he leaves without another word.

I don’t miss the look he gave the men from the club. I may not be there anymore, fuck, I don’t even know if they consider me a part of them at this point, but as long as my cousin and her baby are there, I’ll protect them all. The way the men from the club acted and the man’s reaction in the suit means I will be digging into them.

Itwist the throttle, pushing my baby harder, trying to outrun my never-ending nightmares. Edge walking away and choosing that suit was a knife to my chest. The satisfaction in his eyes as she chose him will forever be burned in my brain. As bad as that hurt, I can’t shake the face. I know that man from somewhere. It’s making me fucking crazy that I can’t figure out who the fuck he is. Coming back to myself, I’m outside of Edge’s apartment complex.

I grab the clutch and slowly pull into the parking lot to do a lap when she comes around the corner on the arm of the same motherfucker from a few weeks ago. I shift hard and turn the throttle, burning rubber. I need to let a fraction of the rage boiling inside me out. As I'm pulling into the club, that’s when it hits me. If I find the fucker that killed my brother and get it worked out, then I can get my woman. There is nothing anyone can do to keep me from getting my woman back.

I slam through the club's doors and head straight for the bar, needing a drink to clear the image of seeing Edge in the fucker's arms. Star’s laugh makes my hold on the bottle a little tighter. Why could I not let go of my past? Why did I have to butt into someone else's life? Not just someone else's but someone who never wanted anything to do with me in the first place. Only when he needed something, no needed to be rescued, did I step in, and it ruined my life. Not only that, it threatened to ruin everything I ever loved.

“Hey there, Razor, baby, you doing okay?” a club girl asks, snuggling close to my side.

I look over at her, not saying anything, just raising an eyebrow. No club girls have tried anything since I brought Star and Starla into the club. Now, though, the knowledge that Star and I are on the outs has started getting around.

“You really want to get tied up in this, sweetheart?” I finally ask.

“If I get the chance to see what all the talk is about with you, I’d say it’s worth the risk. Plus, we all know it’s a show. That cunt doesn’t mean anything to you,” she says, giving me an all-knowing smile and a shrug.

“You know what, sweetheart? Let’s drink and see where this night takes us,” I say, swallowing the last of my beer in one pull.

“That’s what I like to hear,” she replies, laying a kiss on my lips before ordering two shots and another round of beers.

When the beers and shots are slammed onto the bar, I look up to find Blue glaring at me. I nod and throw back the shot before drinking half of the beer and turn to take in the room. Most of the brothers are here and a few of their Ol’ ladies. Pretty Boy and Coin are playing pool. Torch has Vixen on his lap talking to Duck and Little Red. I’m a little taken aback by her hanging out with everyone. I find Star hanging on a recruit. Fuck, I’ve been so fucking lost in my shit that I haven’t even taken the time to get to know the new guys. Their background checks are clean and all, but I know fuck all about them outside of that.

“Let’s play pool!” I say a little too loudly, catching the attention of the two happy couples.

“Razor, you good brother?” Torch asks from his place under Vixen.

“Yeah, brother, I’m fucking fantastic. Just living the fucking dream and all that jolly shit!” I shout, swigging the beers that haven’t run out since the club girl showed up.

“Man, why don't you come chill with us? Let's fucking catch up,” Duck says with a grin.
