I’m surprised by the levelheaded answer. He will be taking his place as Prez before long. It is amazing to see how far this man has come in the last year. His answers, words of caution, and planning tonight tell me that we will be left in the right hands. Glancing over at Prez, who has been unusually quiet, I get a wink. As much as my brother will be the best Prez for us, there is a knot in my chest over losing Steel at the head of the table.

“Razor? What do you see?” Duck asks.

“To be honest, the best time and place will be when they travel from point A to point B. They take the same routes from the big house to the strip club and then to the empty warehouse on the south end of town,” I tell them, pulling the maps up on the screen behind Prez.

Duck stands, going to look closer. As our Road Captain, it’s his job to know what’s going on and how to map out our paths to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. Watching him work through a problem is like nothing you’ve ever seen. He plays the big goofball and acts like he doesn’t know what’s going on when he has one of the highest IQs of anyone I’ve ever met. His eye for planning and strategy will make him the best VP for Torch’s balls to the wall, make a move, and plan as you go mentality.

“What do you see, Duck?” Torch asks.

“Well, you see this route they take twice a week?” he says, pointing at one I zoom in on.

“Oh, shit, no fucking way. It can’t be that fucking easy,” Pretty Boy says, smirking.

Duck turns, grinning over his shoulder. “It looks like it’s going to be that easy.”

“You boys want to fill the rest of the room in?” Prez growls, annoyed at being left out of the conversation.

“This gap of road here?” We all nod, still not connecting the dots.

Pretty Boy stands, walking over to Duck. “Prez, you remember all the land I told you we needed to buy at the county's edge that bordered one of the main ways into town?” Pretty Boy asks, pointing at either side of the road.

“Yes. We all agreed the extra land there would be good for us to isolate the ways into town.”

“The route they take twice a week to and from town runs right through that nice mile stretch of road. I mean, if there were to be an accident, it wouldn’t be unheard of for the property owner to check in and clean up the mess.” Pretty Boy says with a sly grin.

The wheels turn in everyone's heads. A plan is forming for the fall of these fuckers. It doesn’t take long for us to have a plan in place, and we only have a few days before we’ll put it in motion, making my woman and little girl safe.

Prez calls order to the meeting, and everyone files out. I sit there, studying the maps, vehicles, timelines, and everything else we have on them. I’m more than ready for this shit to come to a fucking end.

Ababy babbling brings me out of deep sleep. I stretch, forgetting for a second I’m injured. Groaning, I force myself to sit, swallowing the scream climbing up my throat when Vixen spins around in Razor’s computer chair.

“About fucking time you decided to join the land of the living,” she says with her snarky grin.

I narrow my eyes before throwing a pillow at her head, making sure to miss the baby’s head sitting in her lap. Fucking A, that fucking hurt!

“Why do you have to be such a pain in the ass?” I whine, laying back down.

“Because God made me that way,” Vixen sasses, coming to lay on the bed with Starla, who reaches for me. Vixen lays her on her belly, watching us. We lay there quietly, letting Starla babble.

“Speak, woman. You’re fucking killing me!” I demand.

“Are you ready to come home?”

Her words hit harder than any kick or punch I’ve ever taken. Is this home? Is this where I want my home to be? I think it over. Looking at Starla, I realize that, yes, this is home. A single tear runs down my cheek as I look over at Vixen.

“Yes, you fucking nut case. I’m ready to come home.”

Vixen’s head snaps in my direction so fast I swear to Christ she breaks something. “Don’t you fucking play with me. I’m in a vulnerable state and can’t handle the stress.”

“I’m serious. Razor and I talked about what has been going on. The fact Star isn’t and never was his woman. Star Bright here isn’t his by birth, but Vixen, she is ours. You know what I mean?”

She nods her head. “Of course, I know what you mean. We both know this little nugget in my belly isn’t technically Torch’s, but everyone knows this baby is his. Blood doesn’t always make a family. I mean, fuck, blooddoesn’tmake a family. The people who have your back and are there in your time of need are family.”

“Well then, let’s get this little rugrat bathed and eat. Then, I’ll call Candy and see when we can go pack up my stuff.” I grin, knowing she’ll be over the moon happy for me.
