“So the engagement to Liam is off?” he asked.

“Yes, we’re going to say that I wasn’t over you, and being the amazing person he is, Liam just wants to see me happy. He might even come to our wedding,” I teased.

“Our wedding?” Adam’s eyes burned into mine.

“I was just joking,” I added quickly, so as not to freak him out.

He pulled me closer to him, hunger in his eyes. “Do you have any idea how hearing you talk about marriage affects me?” The hard bulge between us gave me a clear idea.

“The thought of us marrying turns you on?” I breathed and felt butterflies spreads out from my belly to every part of my body.

“Hell, yeah!” His voice was full of excitement.

I gaped at him, “I can’t believe you just said that.”

“Why? What’s wrong?”

“Faith always told me that no one should settle for someone who wasn’t sure about wanting them.” My hands grabbed at his shirt; I wasn’t sure if I needed to steady myself or hold on to him for the rest of my life. “She always says that the right man will be like, ‘Hell yeah, I want to marry you.’”

“She’s a smart woman.”

“But isn’t it crazy that you used those exact words?”

“And you? How would you feel about marrying me?” he asked in that husky, sexy voice of his.

“Adam, I…” My eyes darted around the room making sure no one was listening to us. “I can’t believe we’re even discussing it, but to be honest I just want to crawl inside of you and be one with you.”

He looked stunned.

“I’m sorry, that sounded creepy,” I said and scrunched up my face. “I didn’t mean literally crawl into you, it’s more like wanting to be close to you and sharing everything with you,” I rambled. “You know, like you and me against the world.”

We were standing very close and speaking low with our heads against each other. “Here’s my confession,” Adam whispered. “I’ve never felt this strongly about anyone. I’m so in love with you that it scares the shit out of me. I’m scared of losing you again.” He pulled back to look into my eyes. “Call me primitive but I want every man in the world to know you’re taken.”

I was just about to answer him when a soft voice broke our intense connection and we turned our heads to see Violet and Jake.

“Hey, you two, I’m so happy you’re finally together.” Violet said with her large green eyes beaming at us.

“Thanks.” Adam smiled back at her.

“Did you tell her about my vision?” Violet asked.

Adam’s eyes bulged a little as if he were silently trying to communicate that now wasn’t the right time.

“It’s okay, Adam,” Violet said softly. “I know things have just started budding between you but you have nothing to fear. Chloe wants the same things as you do.”

“How would you know?” I asked and was a little taken aback by the way she spoke like she knew me.

Adam cleared his throat. “You know that Violet is a psychic, right?”

“Yeah,” I said but must have looked skeptical, because she reached out and took my hand.

“Chloe, I have a message for you.”

“From whom?”

“From your spirit guide.”

I swallowed hard and arched a brow. “Seriously?”
