“Are you ready to hear it?”
I nodded.
“Adam is your spring.”
I gaped at her. “Adam is my spring?”
“Yes.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
She shrugged. “He says you know what it means.”
“He?”
“Uh-huh.”
I looked at Adam. “Does it make sense to you?”
“Not exactly, except spring represents a new beginning,” Adam speculated.
I tilted my head when a clear image suddenly struck me. “The apple tree,” I muttered and tried to concentrate.
“What apple three?”
“Onava said I reminded her of her apple tree.”
“Okaaay…” Adam said slowly.
“She had me read this poem about trees looking like shit in the winter, waiting for the spring to come and make them beautiful again.”
“Oh, so I’m here to make you beautiful again?” Adam frowned. “Nah, you’ve always been beautiful, Chloe.”
“But I was miserable and lost when I first met you.”
I looked from Adam to Violet. “Is that it? Adam helps me grow and feel full of life. Is that what you meant?”
Her eyes softened with a smile. “It only has to make sense to you. I can’t tell you what it means.”
Feeling like I had just managed to solve a riddle I asked her, “Do you have more messages for us?”
“I already told Adam about my vision of your future.”
“What vision?” I whipped my head to Adam. “What did she tell you?”
Violet chuckled and released my hand. “Only good things about your future children, don’t worry,” she said and leaned in to hug first me and then Adam.
Jake offered his hand to me. “We’re leaving, but it was nice to meet you again.”
“Nice to meet you too,” I mumbled, still trying to wrap my head around Adam and me talking about marriage and now Violet talking about us having children.
“Are you okay?” Jake asked and placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Yes, it’s just a bit much to take in,” I admitted.
“Violet has that effect on people. She means no harm,” Jake assured me.
“I know; I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to have her abilities.”
