He was normally serious, needing to do his duty and that was it.

But today he had smiled more than he had in years.

She looked at him finally and her brown eyes held so much emotion in their depths and he wanted to find out each and every one of them.

He reached out his hand, needing to touch her and she laced their fingers together.

“Why does this feel like we have done this thousands of times when it's only our first date?”

He shrugged, “Some people just know that they have finally found their other half as soon as they meet them and it’s comfortable and normal.”

She leaned forward, and he could take it no longer, getting up from his seat that was across from her and sat next to her.

“You know deep inside that you and I are meant to be. That is why we are comfortable. Because this is destiny. Fate.”

She sighed, “You are romantic. Okay. Can you be any more perfect?”

He laughed a little, “Probably, if you let me.”

She shook her head and the moment was broken by the waiter coming up and wanting to take their order.

He looked at her and let her decide what she wanted.

And he was happy to get the same.

The waiter looked at Brenya for a few seconds longer than necessary and Jensynn let out a growl.

The man jumped and left the table, and Brenya laughed, “Did you just make that noise? Really?”

He cleared his throat, never having made that sound before and gave a small nod, “He was staring at you. So I let him know you were spoken for.”

She raised her eyebrows, “I was not expecting that. It’s kinda hot.”

He laughed, and their waiter dropped off their drinks quickly, and didn’t linger.

They talked about everything and nothing as they ate and Jensynn loved getting to know his girl.

He asked questions about her life and her childhood and loved that her grandma and mom were so close with her.

He also wanted to meet Eryka. If she had talked Brenya into going out with him tonight, then he was grateful to her.

He told her a little about his life, not wanting to scare her off before they had truly cemented their bond.

He told her about Nick, and his little brother, Brander and she was genuinely interested in his life as well.

When they finished eating, he saw that it was snowing and Brenya let out a little squeal, “I love the snow! There is something about it that is so magical. Do you mind if we walk around?”

He smiled, “Of course.”

They linked hands again and though she had her gloves on, it was just as intimate.

She put her head on his shoulder as they walked, and they didn’t talk, just walked with the snow falling on them.

They got to a look out over the city after a little bit, and with the lights of the city glowing and the extra lights on people’s houses, it added to the magic of the night.

They just stood in silence, looking at the lights and watching the snow fall in fat, fluffy flakes.

He had to look at her, and she turned toward him, and cupped his face in one hand and he leaned into her touch.
