Epilogue
Reid
After they got back from their short honeymoon, things were absolutely perfect.
He was able to get to work with his brother, his friends and it was the most amazing feeling, knowing that he was making a difference in people's lives and yet, not being so exhausted from the evil that most cops faced.
But that he was able to just be. To drive around, help those in need and love his job again.
He got contacted from Chicago about the trial, and that it wasn’t going to happen because Mark had been killed in prison before he was scheduled for it to begin.
He had been attacked in the prison by a few inmates that he had put there and had died a brutal death at their hands.
Reid wasn’t happy to hear it, but at least justice was served and Reid found out that while Nikolai knew a lot about Mark, he too had still barely scratched the surface.
Mark was eviler than anyone gave him credit for and was responsible for more deaths than Reid wanted to acknowledge.
Deaths of good men, good cops and people that didn’t deserve to have him play God.
And knowing he was gone, it was as if a weight had lifted off his shoulders and he could breathe again, sleep again.
It was freeing to have that chapter closed and he was able to move on.
Nikolai hadn’t gone back to Chicago.
Even though he had been there for over a month, he refused to leave Kenzie and was making strides to move his family and his business to Silver Springs.
Kenzie didn’t hate it and those two were undoubtedly in love.
Xavier had also found love while he was here, in the woman that owned the wedding dress shop in town.
And Gray, Graham and the others while they were visiting, saw the happiness that came from the town and wanted what the others had found.
Gray had told him he would be joining their little force and Brek was thrilled. Now that he was a father, he wanted all the help that he could get.
Gray had happily signed on, and the police force in their town was now full of good men, wanting to do their part to help.
Xavier was different. He was tired of being a cop and wanted to try something new.
So, he applied for the job as the Fire Chief and Brent had very graciously accepted his application.
Reid was thrilled for his friends and Graham, Sebastian, Luis and Dustin had decided to come along for the ride.
Sebastian, Graham, Dustin and Luis all signed on with Xavier.
They all wanted a break from the force and Reid couldn’t blame him.
And Nikolai? Well, that was a story for Nikolai to tell, but Reid was still blown away by the position his friend was offered and had accepted.
He was excited for the future and a month after their wedding, Mila came into their bedroom with a small white stick in her hands.
He looked at it with confusion and then grinned, “Is that what I think it is?”
She nodded and gave him a watery smile, “I’m pregnant!”
Reid got up from the bed, hugging her tight and kissing her.
Yes, he was excited for the next chapter in life.
