She was the only one who hadn’t wanted her future decided just yet.

She loved working with her hands with the yarn and sewing, but after her stalker frightened her, she'd given it up.

She hated that. It was her calming thing and she needed it.

Oh well. For now, she was good to stop for a while. She knew that someday she would open her Etsy shop again, but for now, she needed to get her life started here.

Besides, she needed to clean the house today and go grocery shopping to get ready for her grandma’s hospital release.

She walked back to her room and picked up her phone. There were 26 missed calls from Kian, 20 from Reid and a few from her parents. Even one from Karalee.

There was also a crap ton of messages, but she clicked on the one she wanted to see.

She saw a message from Trace and smiled then replied.

Emery: Hope you have a good day.

Trace: I sure will Sunshine. You as well.

Emery: <3

She remembered what he put as her contact name in his phone and she wanted to swoon.

His Sunshine. It was adorable and made her insides turn to goo. He made her see the future she wanted, and if that didn’t scare her, she didn’t know what would.

Fanning herself to not get ahead of herself, she went to start cleaning when her phone rang.

Kian.

Rolling her eyes, she answered, “Hey Kian. What’s going on?”

Kian snarled, “What’s going on? Seriously Emery? Reid and I have been worried sick about you. You were supposed to let us know when you got to grandmas.”

She let out a breath, trying not to get upset, “I forgot. I was moving my boxes in and it slipped my mind. Besides, you probably already knew I was here. You aren’t my dad Kian. I don’t need to tell you everything.”

Kian let out a little growl. “I may not be your dad, but he is worried too.”

“I am sorry for worrying you, but I don’t need to check in every second of the day. My life doesn’t revolve around you guys. You are both so controlling, and I don’t like it. I am safe, and here at grandmas. I will call you later.”

“Don’t you dare hang up on me Emery.”

She hung up. She didn’t need to answer to him. Cursing at her brother, she called her mom.

Ailith answered on the first ring, “My darling. Kian says you have been ignoring him.”

She smiled, “Mom, I don’t answer to him. I know he worries, but I am not a kid anymore, and he isn’t my dad, nor is he my bodyguard.”

Ailith laughed, “I know darling. You just know how they both worry. As does your father.”

“I know ma. I know. But I'm good.”

Her phone started buzzing and she saw Kian’s name and she sent him to voicemail.

“That’s Kian. He is such an ass sometimes ma. Can’t you make it stop?”

Ailith laughed again. “My sweet girl, I wish I could. I tried when you were growing up and knew that you didn’t like it. I got so mad at them when they didn’t even let someone ask you to prom.”

Emery smiled, she remembered how mad her mom had gotten. “I know. I remember. Thanks ma. I love you.”
