The doctor said she was lucky that she hadn’t had any sustaining injuries and she felt better.
Her mom had helped her shower, keeping her bandages dry on her hands and making sure that she was okay.
And when she got dressed in real clothes it felt amazing.
She was wheeled out of the hospital and to Grandma Viv’s car and Trace was at her side.
He would follow behind them and would stay for a few hours before going home.
She knew he was tired. And that he probably had a ton of work to do, but thankfully Kian had gone in and worked for him a bit.
She loved that her brother had stepped in and was going to be working with Trace at the station.
She also wanted to get back to the station. It was her first adult job and she wanted to be there, surrounded by friends and family.
When they pulled into the driveway, there were a ton of cars on the street and she didn’t know why, until the front door of the house opened, and a few people spilled out onto the lawn.
Kian was there in his uniform, Karalee at his side, then she saw Brek and Sienna, Mila, Scott and Stacy and her dad.
He hadn’t been able to come as soon as Ailith had but had made it when he was able.
Trace helped her from the car and when she got closer, her dad hugged her first, and kissed her cheek softly, “My darling angel girl. I'm so glad you are alright.”
She hugged him back, “Me too.”
He let her go and walked straight to Ailith, where he pulled her in for a hug and then kissed her.
Emery smiled, loving that her parents were still just so happy and in love after all the years they had been together.
She felt a touch to her arm and the girls were there. Mila, Sienna, Karalee and Stacy and they all took turns giving her soft hugs.
Scott hugged Trace fiercely and then Kian did as well.
It made her tear up, but she held them at bay.
The girls all oohed and awed over her ring and she grinned, telling them how Trace had proposed, and all the girls were smiling.
Sienna looked at her brother, “I knew he had it in him. He is a wonderful man. I am so glad he has you.”
She hugged Sienna again, “I am too.”
Trace led her away and into the house, where he gave her the pain meds she needed and she complained until he kissed her softly, “You need to rest. I promise you will see them all soon. Just get better and you can have them all here all the time.”
She smiled, but she was sleepy and was out before he left the room.
