She said his back was burned severely and that he would have scars on his back, his legs and his shoulder.
But he was alive, so that was what mattered to him.
They helped her into a gown and Trace held her hand as she went into the room with Reid.
He was asleep and she pushed his blonde hair out of his face.
She kissed his forehead softly. If it hadn’t been for him, Trace would have been caught in the blast and could have died.
She was grateful to her big brother. Always looking out for her and taking care of her.
“I love you Reid. You need to get out of here soon. Our life is just starting here.”
Reid didn’t answer but Trace pulled her into his side and kissed her forehead softly, “We can marry as soon as he is out.”
She nodded and said, “I hope it isn’t too far away. I want to be your wife.”
Trace grinned down at her and kissed her softly. “I want you to be my wife too.”
She leaned against him and when she pulled his head down to her, she whispered, “I can’t wait to be yours in other ways as well.”
Trace groaned softly and shook his head, “We're in your brothers room sunshine, you're injured, and I am hanging on by a thread to my control. Now is not the time.”
She giggled and he put her away from him. “Be good. See your brother and as soon as we are able, you're all mine.”
Reid coughed softly and said, “Thank you Trace for waiting to debauche my sister.”
Trace groaned and Emery laughed, “Reid,” she said and rolled her eyes, “He is my fiancé. I’m allowed to debauche him whenever I want.”
Reid fake gagged and then groaned. Emery hurried to his side and he shook his head slowly. “Only you would do that Emmy. Congrats on the engagement.”
She showed him the ring and he looked up at her with sleepy and drugged eyes. “Mom’s ring?”
She nodded, “She and Grandma wanted me to have it. All the women in our family wear it at first. They have happy and long marriages if they do.”
Reid nodded slightly, “I remember. Well I'm happy for both of you.”
She smiled and brushed his hair off his forehead and kissed him softly. “I love you Reid. I hope you know that.”
He smiled at her, “I sure do.”
He shut his eyes again and was asleep within moments and Emery tried her best to keep her laugh inside.
He had caught her making a pass at Trace.
Trace put his arms around her waist and hugged her close and she leaned back against him with a small sigh.
“Come on, you need to rest still. You are still injured.”
She nodded and he led her away and back to her room, where she was asleep as soon as he tucked her in.

The next morning, she was ready to get out of the hospital.
Her burns were much better and didn’t hurt. And she knew how to take care of them.
And her memories had all come back, and she hadn’t had any issues from the concussion.
