Chapter 19
Emery
When she woke the next morning, her mom and Grandma were there, and Trace was there as well.
He had brought them coffee and when he moved, Karalee’s tiny form was hidden behind his large one.
She noticed that Emery was awake and hurried over to her side.
Emery grinned at her best friend and Karalee leaned down and hugged her.
“You silly! You got so hurt! I was terrified.” Karalee said with her hands on her hips.
Emery laughed, “It wasn't my fault. And Trace saved me. I was just so worried about him I was caught in the blast.”
Trace came up behind Karalee and then walked to her side and put his forehead to hers, “I agree with Karalee. I was terrified too.”
Then he kissed her mouth, “I love you sunshine.”
She smiled against his lips, “How do you think I felt? Finally found my prince charming and he was almost prince charred.”
Trace stood and laughed, “You are right. Let’s not do that again.”
She nodded, “I agree.”
Then Trace looked at the women in the room and dropped to one knee, and she heard Karalee gasp, but her mom and grandma were silent.
“Sunshine, from the minute I saw you with your ninja moves and catching you in my arms I knew you were it. My love, my life and my soul. I looked for you and hoped against hope that I would find you someday and that someday came much faster than I was expecting. But I'm not upset with this fact. I am thrilled that I got you. That you are mine. I love you. Everything about you and after both our lives were in danger, I knew then and there that I will not wait much longer to make you my wife and the mother of our children.”
She felt her eyes tear up and he continued, “I want to go to work with you every day and come home to you every night. I want to wake with you snuggled in my arms in our bed and I want to raise our family together. The one I missed out on and the one I want. I want to love you for the rest of my life and more because I am selfish and will follow you to the next life you lead. Say you'll be mine. Will you marry me sunshine?”
She nodded and he grinned, standing and putting a ring on her finger, then kissing her breathless.
When he pulled back, she looked down and saw the ring that she saw every day on her mom’s finger now on hers.
She looked over at Ailith and her mom nodded, “It’s yours now. You know that sweet girl. It gets passed to the girls in the family. Your father wants to buy me a new one.”
She grinned and Trace kissed her again and then everyone hugged her softly. Karalee whispered in her ear, “I like him. He picked me up from your grandma’s house today and I know he loves you.”
Emery nodded, “He sure does. I can’t wait for you to find one for you.”
Karalee gave a small laugh, “I don’t know.”
Emery smiled, “Just wait girl.”
Karalee gave her another hug and then walked to Trace’s side and hugged him. “Take care of my best friend.”
He nodded down at her, “Always. She's my everything.”
Emery smiled so hard her cheeks hurt and she wanted nothing more than to get out of this stupid hospital and make Trace hers again.
That’s right, she wanted to claim him now. Her body went hot, and she couldn’t wait for that day.

That night, when the nurse and doctor let her walk around, she asked if she could see Reid.
Her mom had gone earlier and had taken Grandma Viv.
