Chapter 8

Trace

After Emery drove off with her grandma, he got his hat and his keys. He needed to go on patrol before he took off for tonight.

Scott was taking over tonight and had already been called out to find Mrs. Black’s dog. He was well aware of Trace’s plans for the evening.

He was getting nervous, but after seeing her today, his nerves went away.

Besides, her grandma was already on his side. She had whispered in his ear that love moves in its own time and to not worry about what anyone else had to say.

And it helped bolster him. He wanted nothing but Emery at his side for the rest of his life.

Stacy stopped him before he left, “So that’s her huh? I am so happy for you Trace.”

Trace smiled, “Thank you. She's perfect, and I can’t wait to get to know her more. It might seem fast, but she is it for me.”

Stacy grinned, “It’s no faster than Brek and Sienna.”

Trace laughed, “You're right. Must be something in the water.”

She laughed too, “It certainly is good water.”

Trace chuckled as he walked out the door, “It’s potent, that’s for sure.”

He drove slowly around the town and before his shift ended, grabbed the bouquet of flowers he got for Emery.

They were a mix of roses. But he asked the woman earlier to put as many purple roses as she could.

She obliged him and now Trace had a gorgeous bouquet to give Emery.

He rushed home and showered, taking care to shave again and then he dressed.

He chose dark jeans and a white button-down shirt.

Wanting to take her to a nice dinner and show her off a bit.

It would be a few towns over, but he didn’t care. He just wanted to spend his time with her. He didn’t care where.

His phone rang and he picked it up, seeing Sienna’s name on his screen. He smiled, “Sienna, how are you?”

“Brek told me you met someone. We haven’t been able to talk much, but is it really true?”

He laughed, “Yes, it is. Her name is Emery Collins and I met her yesterday.”

Sienna gave an exasperated sound, “That’s all I get? How did you meet? Are you going on a date with her? Brek didn’t give me any real details. He kept distracting me.”

Trace fake gagged. “I don’t want to hear that. You're my little sister and he's my best friend. No thank you.”

Sienna laughed, “Not like that. He wanted to show me some things on the beach before we left. He knows we don’t have a long time left here. And he's right. We got tickets home tomorrow.”

He laughed, “You didn’t have to rush home Sienna. You should see more things. You have been stuck here way too long.”

She let out a small sigh, “I promise, I have seen a lot. It's not like we can't come back. Brek is already talking about taking me away again. Besides, I want to come home and meet her. And I miss you.”

He smiled, “I miss you too. Just be safe okay? I can’t wait to see you.”

“I can’t either. I'll tell Brek you said hi.”
