Brek kept his focus on Jake, not wanting to give away Trace's presence.

“I will do what I have to in order to keep her safe Jake. Let her go. You can’t come back from this.”

Jake laughed in his face, “Do you see how her skin is calling for my blade? I can’t help it, she tastes so good.”

He pulled Sienna’s hair and put the knife tighter to her skin, causing her eyes to widen and more blood to drip down her neck.

Brek cursed, and Jake laughed again, until Trace came up behind the man and put his gun to Jake’s head.

“Let her go, right now.”

Jake went still and a look of ultimate hate and anger came over his face, “You fuckers. Trying to ruin everything.”

Brek looked at Sienna, who had her hands on Jake’s arm. He looked at her and gave a small twitch of his head, then mouthed, “Be ready.”

She nodded and then stuck her nails into Jake’s arm, causing him to cry out.

The knife moved away from her neck and she threw her head back into Jake’s face.

He stumbled back a step and let her go. And she ran behind Brek, who held his gun up.

“You are done Jake. Drop your knife and get on your knees, hands in the air.”

Jake snarled and turned on Trace. With a quick swipe of his blade, Brek watched in horror as Trace cried out in pain as blood flowed from his stomach. Brek fired at Jake, shooting him in the chest.

Jake fell to his knees and then hit the floor with a thud. His eyes unseeing.

Brek ran to Trace, seeing a large cut across his abdomen. He yelled to Sienna to call 911 and get him a towel or something so that he could put pressure on the wound.

When she did what he asked, Brek put his hands over Trace’s stomach and held his friend’s skin together. Trying to staunch the blood flowing from the deep cut.

As Sienna ran back in the room, she had her phone out, texting someone, he assumed it was 911, as he heard her phone speaking. She had a towel but when she looked up, her eyes went wide, her face was pale. She stopped moving completely and she opened her mouth to scream, but no sound came out.

Brek didn’t know why she had stopped, until a sharp pain exploded in his side.

Brek gasped as he looked down at the knife sticking from his side.

He looked over at Jake, who lived after all, but he had blood running from his mouth.

Grabbing his gun with the strength he had left, Brek turned and shot Jake again and again.

Then he collapsed next to Trace.

He heard a sound, and then another as the room swam before his eyes. Black dots coming and going as he tried to focus.

He heard the sound again, but it sounded like he was underwater, and he coughed.

He tasted iron in his mouth, and he shut his eyes. Blackness taking over him.
