“Yip, he sure does. He so proud of all that you’ve accomplished with your business. He’s always bragging about you.” I send up a silent prayer of thanks that I seem to be saying all the right things. Vivienne seems to be thawing before my very eyes as I speak.

“Aww, that’s so sweet, babe. I never knew you talked to your colleagues about me.”

He gives her a cocky grin. “Why wouldn’t I? You’re the best thing that ever happened to me. I want the world to know that.”

She puts her glass down, unfolds herself from the sofa, and goes to give him a hug. He drops a kiss on her head as they stand there, arm in arm.

“So, ladies. What are we doing about dinner? We have options.” He gestures down the mountain with his glass. “We can either brave the twisty road back into town in the dark, or since I’m told they do get delivery up here, we can order some take-out and let someone else brave said twisty road in the dark.”

Vivienne turns to me. “I’m in the mood for pizza but definitely not in the mood to make it. How about you, Fay?”

Well shit. There might well be hope for this weekend after all.

“Hmm, I could definitely go for pizza too.”

“Great. With such menial decisions out of the way, let’s get those glasses replenished, ladies.”

By the time dinner arrived, Vivi and I were somewhat buzzed. Yip, I even got an invitation to call her Vivi if we were to “become friends.” The wine certainly went a long way to ease tensions between us, and I was grateful for it.

While she and I organise napkins and drinks, Cal gets a fire going in the gorgeous retro fireplace. It’s pretty damn chilly up here in the mountains now that autumn is in full swing. We crowd around the coffee table, laughing and chatting while we eat dinner. But finally, the evening meal is over, and I’m curious to see what’s going to happen next.

A half hour more of laughter and conversation goes by. I’m just about to call it a night when Cal gives me a slight nod, which I take to mean something’s about to occur. And sure enough, it does. I brace.

Vivi is snuggled into the vee of Cal’s legs, her back resting against his chest. I watch as he wraps his arms tighter around her and nuzzles her neck. She tips her head to the side, all the better for him to access the vulnerable skin.

A hand snakes under her top, and I can see him fondle her breast. Vivienne’s body stiffens for a second, but he murmurs something in her ear, and she relaxes. Watching the two of them necking like teenagers makes me hot, and I shift restlessly to ease the ache now building between my thighs.

Her eyes lift and land on me, and Vivi goes stiff as a board in Cal’s arms. “Cal, stop. We’ve got company.”

It’s his turn to gaze over at me, and I see his lips curve into a devilish smirk. “Well, the company’s always welcome to join in.”

She whips her head around to stare at him. “What?”

“Well, we’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a threesome. Here’s our chance.” He shrugs.

“I – you …” She pauses. “How do you even know it’s something Fay’s into? How can you be sure she’s not offended by what you’ve just proposed?”

“Because, to level with you, Vivi, that’s why she’s here. Fay is part of your birthday weekend surprise.”

Her head swivels in my direction, a little like someone watching a tennis match. “It is? You are? But I was so cold to you.” She drops her head into her hands. “I’m so sorry for that, by the way.”

Her misery tugs at my heartstrings, and I scoot forward on my knees until I’m right next to her. With a finger, I tilt her chin up, forcing her hands away from her face. Out of nowhere, the urge to kiss her full, pouty mouth slams into me, and before I can think better of it, I lay my lips on hers.

The rush is incredible. Her mouth is warm and tastes of wine and pizza. Her skin is petal-soft and smooth beneath my fingers, so different from a man’s. Heat curls through me, and it’s neither the fire at my back nor the wine we’ve consumed this evening. It’s all her. Vivienne.

As my lips settle over hers, I hear Cal’s hiss of desire and feel Vivi stiffen. I’m about to pull away when she relaxes. Her lips part, her breath whispers over mine, and I’m lost. Leaning up on my knees, I take her jaw in my hands and deepen the kiss.

I trace the curve of her bottom lip with my tongue, learning the shape of her mouth. Pulling her lip into my mouth, I suck on it and hear her make a tiny sound in the back of her throat. It arrows straight through me to my pussy, already so wet for her. I release her lip so I can explore her mouth. As my tongue sweeps along hers, she suckles it the same way I did her lip. I can’t prevent the groan of desire that slips out.

Through the haze of lust that now clouds my brain, I feel gently fingers slide softly down my cheek. Opening my eyes, I look at Cal to find him smiling like he’s won the lotto.

“Give me a second?”

I lean back, but before I can respond, he grips the bottom of a rather dazed Vivienne’s T-shirt. Whipping it over her head in no time at all, she’s left in nothing but the most beautiful scrap of lace and organza covering her spectacular breasts.

Plump and full, they’re perfect on her small but curvaceous frame. She goes to cover herself with her arms, and Cal wraps his big hands around her smaller ones to stop her.
