So, I’m going to have to do this alone and without drugs?

“I need my boyfriends.”

“Your...boyfriends?” the nurse asks.

“Yes! They’re outside, please.”

She quirks an eyebrow but goes quickly outside, and then my three boys come in, looking panicked.

“Are you all right, little girl?” Sebastian gets to me first, planting a kiss on my forehead.

“We were worried sick about you,” Damien says next, taking my hand and sitting next to my bed.

Dominic stands at the edge of my bed, but he puts a comforting hand on my leg.

“I'm okay, just a little flustered. And oh fuck, here comes another one.” I gasp as pain rips through me and squeeze the holy shit out of Damien’s hand.

He winces but doesn’t protest. Bless him.

The doctor comes in, and everything else is a blur.

I just want topush, but they won’t let me.

My cervix won’t dilate past five, no matter what I do, no matter how hard I want it to.

And they don’t call it labor for nothing.

“Rush her to the OR,” the doctor finally says. “We have to get this baby out, Ms. Carter, I’m sorry.”

“I don’t care, I just need her out," I whine, and Damien kisses my cheek.

“It's going to be okay, sweetheart.”

His words ring in my ears as they take me away, but I shout out for him, pulling Damien with me.

“He can be in the room, right?” I ask in a panicked voice. “I don’t want to be alone.”

I hope the other two don’t take this as any kind of sign, Damien was just closer.

But they don’t seem angry as they tell me goodbye, kissing me softly.

We’re rushed to the back and as they numb me up, I squeeze Damien’s hand, looking up at him with wide eyes.

“Tell me again.”

“Tell you what again, sweetheart?”

“Tell me it’s going to be okay.”

“It’s going to be okay. Everything’s going to be okay. You’ve got us.”

I do. I do have them, and everything’s fine... as long as Chloe gets here safely.

When I hear her crying, I burst into tears.

They put her on my stomach, all covered in gore, but she’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Nine pounds and four ounces, my big strong girl.
