“First off, I don’t want any more fighting from any of you. Secondly, you all still have detention for a month.”
We collectively groaned but nodded. I understood that we all had gotten off relatively scot-free. I’m certain the Terror Twins realized that as well.
We left his office and quietly went our separate ways. I still couldn’t believe that we hadn’t gotten suspended. It didn’t make much sense until I realized that if he let the twins go and not me, it would have looked very suspicious on his part. It would have been blatant favoritism.
I knew he didn’t care about the book club because he never provided me with the supplies to clean it or bothered to change the old doorknob. The lock of that doorknob was easily picked, so it was no surprise that no one had wanted that room, so I ended up having to buy a new lock myself, but that one was stolen. That was yet another incident when the book club room was broken into and vandalized.
As strange as it sounded, I should've thanked the twins. If it weren’t for them, I definitely would have gotten suspended for a month.
When I got to my science class and sat down, everyone stared at me like a herd of deer. My science teacher quickly snapped at them, and the lesson was resumed. My mind was on the fight and on the bullshit office politics that Principal Newman employed. That was until I saw Manny walk by in the hallway. He made me remember what had started the cage match I had with the twins in the first place.
After I texted Vivian and Eddy to reassure them that I was alright, I hatched an idea. I began direct messaging almost every girl in school. I knew I couldn’t be the only one. There had to be a few others who experienced what I had experienced. Maybe not the leaked nudes, but maybe what had happened between Jacob and me inside the book club room.
After detention, I checked my phone and saw that I had a few missed calls from my mom. I ignored them as I made my way to the bleachers near the P.E. field to meet with Luna.
The sun was setting, and I saw she was already waiting for me. I went up the steps and sat next to her. She had thick, curly brown hair with streaks of gold in it. Her hazel eyes glowed in the fading sunlight, so it was no surprise that Jacob tried to go after her since she was very pretty and way out of his league. To be honest, not even a malformed mutant was in Jacob’s league.
“Hey, Luna. Thank you so much for meeting me,” I said with gratitude.
“Yeah, of course. Am I really the only one who responded?” Luna asked.
“Yep. I’ve been messaging every girl in this school who might have had a bad experience with Jacob, but no one wants to talk. Of course, I get it. It’s not easy. Most of them want to forget about it,” I remarked.
“I know I wanted to forget about it. I wasn’t going to reply to you if I’m being honest, but I changed my mind. I know that he leaked your nudes. I was so angry for you when that happened. I’m sorry I never said anything.”
“Don’t worry about it. I get it,” I replied.
“I wish I had, though. Ugh, he’s so weird. Like, I don’t think he’s a rapist or anything, but he’s just really touchy and forward. He made me so uncomfortable,” Luna revealed.
“You know, he tried to pay me to have sex with him. He’s pathetic,” I mentioned.
“That’s so creepy. How can a guy be so horny?”
“That’s exactly what I said. He’s incomprehensible,” I remarked.
“So…should I tell you what happened?” Luna asked.
I nodded.
“Well, he was very forward when I went to give him a PC support ticket to help out Miss Leslie. He had been messaging me constantly on social media, trying to get my attention with thirsty memes and kissy stickers, which kind of made me want to vomit,” Luna said in disgust.
“I would have projectile vomited directly at him,” I replied.
“He then gave me a sunflower for Valentine’s Day and insinuated that I wanted to have sex with him. He kind of touched my arms when he said that, and I was shocked. I’ve had guys hit on me before, but never like that. He had zero boundaries!” Luna exclaimed.
“That sounds exactly like him. Wait, he also tried to give me a sunflower for Valentine’s Day. Do you think he recycled it?” I asked.
“Oh my god. He did.”
“So, you rejected his stupid flower, and then he had the balls to try it with another girl the same day? He’s demented,” I asserted.
“How many other girls do you think he’s done this with?”
“Too many,” I said with certainty.
“Sorry if this sounds insensitive, but how come he’s never tried leaking anyone else’s nudes before? Why didn’t he do anything to me? Why you?” Luna asked.
“Luna, I think you know by now the kind of person I am.”
