“Let them have a body to bury.”

I didn’t know if it was possible, but I wanted to give Rebel some sense of closure, however small. I didn’t like the man and wanted him dead, but he was her family.

“Let me see what I can do,” he said then ended the call.

“He’s got a long list of enemies,” I said when I saw the worry on Caesar’s face. “It can’t be traced to us or them. Demon will know how to set it up where it doesn’t look like a murder.”

“I’m not worried about that. I know Demon has his shit together. I’m worried about Rumi and how she’s dealing with this.”

I groaned. “Caesar she’s not your concern, man. She has a whole fucking fiancé to worry about her.”

Every time we discussed her, it felt like I was going over the same points again and again. Hopefully one day, everything would fall into place. More than likely, it was going to take another woman for him to see that Rumi wasn’t worth his time.

“Fuck that motherfucker. He’s not good enough for her. He’s rich that’s it.”

I wanted to say she wasn’t good enough for him or her fiancé, but I didn’t want to talk shit about the woman he loved. I wouldn’t want my brothers talking shit about Rebel. How I felt about Rumi wouldn’t drive a wedge between me and my brother.

“Are the plans good for tonight?” I asked, trying to change the subject.

It was packed when I had walked through the clubhouse. Today we had two prospects patching in and after we would have a party to celebrate. Some of the other chapters were going to attend but this time, I’d only stay for a bit to show my face, then head home to my daughter. And hopefully get to spend some time with Rebel. I think she would need me during this time.

“They are. The brothers are excited, and you know the club whores can smell the fresh blood in the water.”

It goes without saying that they did. As long as they didn’t cause any problems, I didn’t care about their actions.

“I won’t be here long. I want to spend some time with Siobhan. She’s been asking a lot of questions about Dani, Luca, and Rebel. So, I guess it’s time to have a talk with her.”

“That’s going to be difficult,” he said.

“Yeah, it is, but things are changing in my life so they’re changing in hers. She deserves an explanation. And she likes Rebel, but she also needs to understand what it means for her to be coming around more.”

“She’s young, J.D. You think that’s a good idea?”

“I know she’s young, but she’s also a smart girl. She knows there’s something different about Rebel. She just doesn’t know how to voice what’s different so I’m going to sit her down and hopefully she can tell me how she’s feeling.”

“Man, I’m glad I don’t have kids,” he said. “Especially a girl.”

I chuckled. “You’ll change your mind when the right woman comes along.”

I looked at him, hoping that he could grasp the meaning behind my words. He might love Rumi, but she was definitely not the one. Hopefully that person would come along quickly because I had a sinking feeling if she didn’t Caesar would find himself trapped in a toxic relationship that would make him miserable for the rest of his life.

A knock sounded at the door.

“Come in!”

The door opened, and Hannibal stuck his head in. “Everyone’s ready.”

I stood and so did Caesar. We followed Hannibal out of my office. I was ready to get this over with so I could go home. I needed to have a serious conversation with my special lady. Hopefully she was just as excited for our new life as I was.
