When I’d felt they’d been in danger.

While the imagery lasted only a second or two, I gathered that instead of taking lives, they’d saved them. “You didn’t.” I laughed nervously. “You’re not evil.” I didn’t know who I was trying to convince, them or me. But I was relieved. How strange. How… insane. “I don’t know what to do. I have no idea what to think about this, but I need to develop a plan. Maybe someone I can talk with.”

All three made noises, sounds of irritation.

“What am I supposed to say?” Now I was becoming exasperated. “You’re wolves. Can’t you shift into humans or something, so I know for certain I’m not losing my mind?”

I don’t know what I expected and there was no playbook on shifters other than what I’d read in romance novels and horror stories. It was all supposed to be folklore going back thousands of years.

It was not supposed to be real.

Maybe they really could understand me, because before I could counter my thoughts or offer a suggestion, the room began to vibrate, heavy electric current creating pin and needle pricks as my arms twitched. Just slightly, but enough to draw my attention.

All three of their forms rippled, swaying back and forth. I barely blinked and their fur was disappearing, claws retracting and bones protruding abnormally.

A wash of light kept their bodies glowing and before I could blink again, the three powerful and very dangerous wolves had disappeared.

Three men stood in their place, wild and unforgiving.

Absolutely stunning.

Lovers.

Protectors.

Mates.

CHAPTER 12

Apollo

Doubt.

Our little mate had doubted us and herself.

Now that she’d seen with her own eyes the savagery we’d been forced to endure, perhaps she could better understand the level of danger she was in. She was a defiant one, refusing to follow rules or lines of common sense.

Yet that’s the reason her mind was better able to process what she’d seen and heard.

And what she’d felt deep inside.

The wild look in her eyes that I’d seen the day before had returned and her breathing was irregular as she struggled with the longing that she’d yet to embrace.

The three of us felt the same.

Fuck.

She took a step closer and that was all it took. Kai swept her into his arms, wrapping one around the back of her head as he pulled her toward him, crushing his mouth over hers. He snaked his other arm down her back, cupping and squeezing her bottom.

There was something far too seductive about the way she was wiggling against him. My cock was rock hard, with an ache so damn deep I was forced to grit my teeth.

I swept my gaze around the apartment. We should be safe here for the night. After that, our scent could be traced by other wolves if they existed. We couldn’t risk the possibility.

Roman nodded in agreement. He was already stroking his cock, his clenched jaw reflecting the same almost desperate need I was experiencing.

Kai lifted Savannah off her feet and she wrapped her arms around him as she twirled her fingers in his hair.

Given I wasn’t a patient man, I moved closer, jerking her away from him. With a single snap of my hand, I ripped a portion of her blouse away, exposing the soft, creamy skin I’d been salivating over since the last time I’d tasted her.
