“Okay, hold on,” Logan said softly and pulled me to a stop. Turning, I faced him. His expression was tense, and I rubbed his arm for comfort. “Eva, I don’t want him to know.”

“I know,” I replied and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. “I haven’t said anything to him, and I won’t. I wouldn’t. That’s for you to decide when you tell him.”

“Okay.” He nodded.Oh, I hated the way he worried.“I’ll tell him, you know? I just…”

“I know,” I repeated quietly. “You don’t have to explain anything, Logan.”

“Thank you,” he whispered. Leaning in, he briefly kissed my forehead before walking the few feet needed to knock on Elliot’s door. We waited for him to answer.

Andwaited some more.

Logan knocked again.

And we were still stuck waiting, listening to him move around inside. Logan frowned and raised his hand to knock again, but the door flew open.

“Her back arched off the bed, her pebbled nipples hard enough to cut glass. She was fucking gorgeous like this—sprawled out and gagging on River’s cock. Her pussy clamped down harder on my dick with every thrust.”

Elliot stood there completely unashamed in a pair of sweatpants as a spicy audiobook played loudly from the heart of his apartment.Well, that was certainly one way to answer the door.

“Elliot,” Logan began, but Elliot shushed him.

“Wait for it,” he whispered, holding up one hand. We waited. For what? I had no idea.

One minute later of his audiobook filling the hallway, the door behind us flew open. An angry-looking man glared at Elliot as his face turned red.

“Turn that gay crap down!” he snarled.

“Jokes on you, Brad,” Elliot retorted, “everything I do is gay crap.”

“Turn it down!” The words were shouted as the door slammed.

“That man needs to get laid,” he commented and stepped aside to let us in. “You know the worst part? This is a reverse harem with five guys and no swords crossed! Five dicks and they’re only for her. Boring. I had higher hopes. At the very least, I expected some swordplay between Braxton and River—”

“No!” I gasped, realizing what book he was talking about. “But she built it to that being a thing!”

“Swing and a miss, baby!” He made a dramatic gesture to go with it. “I’ll take more plot at this point. You can only rail a girl in a tent so many times with a line waiting outside. Fuck, get a bigger tent.”

“Do I even want to know?” Logan asked dryly.

“Mm, probably not,” Elliot said. He stopped in the middle of his apartment and pointed between us. “So, are we doing this again? What’s happening here?”

I felt how Logan stiffened at the question.

“We have decided not to get a divorce,” I informed him, hoping to ease some of Logan’s anxiety. There was no good way to explain everything that had happened between us without giving his secret away. Vagueness would have to do.

Elliot’s hands bracketed his hips as he scrutinized the two of us. It felt an awful lot like we were teenagers again and getting in trouble for staying out too late. His brows furrowed together.

“I’m never going to find out what happened here, am I?” Elliot asked.

“Maybe one day,” Logan answered. His hand slipped from mine, and he crossed his arms. “I’m just dealing with some things. After talking it out, we’ve decided to stay together.”

“Are you dying?” he demanded.

“Elliot!” I exclaimed, not that I blamed him. We weren’t giving him much to go on.

“You’d tell me if you were dying, right?”

“Of course I would,” Logan scoffed. “I’m not dying.”
