“Kaz?” Ezra screeched through the phone.
“Ah, fuck,” Miles muttered, gaze snapping up to meet Kaz’s gray eyes. He pulled a face as Ezra’s yelling got louder.
“You tell him if he cheats again, I’ll cut his balls off and shove them down his throat.”
Miles pressed his lips together, his cheeks flaming hot.
Kaz arched a brow at him. “Is that a valid threat?”
“Oh, it’s valid,” Ezra called through the phone.
“Unfortunately, it is,” Miles said with a one-shouldered shrug, his lips pulling into a wry smile. “And he’ll get you. He’s sneaky.”
Kaz huffed, his eyes alight with amusement.
“Why don’t you come to the clubhouse, Ezra,” Kaz said, a smile tugging at his lips. “Through the front door. We might have a job for you.”
The silence on the other end of the phone was unexpected from Ezra, and Miles almost started to worry for his friend before he spoke.
“Is this a trick?”
Laughter bubbled up Miles’s throat, and he shook his head, his cheeks hurting from how hard he was smiling.
“No tricks. No games,” Kaz said to Ezra, though his gaze was on Miles.
The warmth blooming in his chest had him looking down at Kaz, love filling every part of him along with need. Need for this man who’d always owned his fucking heart.
Ezra started to speak, but Miles cut him off. “I’m going back to my hunk now. Bye, Ez.”
He hung up and threw his phone toward the pile of clothes accumulating in the corner. It landed with a dull thud.
He turned his attention back to Kaz, grinning down at the man.
“Now, where were we?”
Kaz huffed out a short laugh and threaded his fingers through Miles’s hair, tugging him down until he hovered just above his lips.
“I think we were just about to do this,” Kaz mumbled and crushed their mouths together. Miles sank into the kiss with a lightness in his chest. It still felt fragile, but he had faith in them.In Kaz. He’d never wanted anything more than he wanted this relationship with Kaz.
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
Kaz
THE VIEW from his office window over the green fields and endless trees brought a sense of peace to him. He’d never settled faster into a place like he had here. He’d felt it the first time they viewed the house. He’d known this was the right place for his club, and he had zero regrets, especially because it had brought Miles back to him.
He turned, walking to the desk closest to the door, eyes on the unopened box on top of it. Wilder dropped it off earlier with a knowing smile on his lips.
He grabbed a pair of scissors and gently cut the tape. He pulled open the flaps and felt his heart hammering in his chest as he stared down at the leather cut inside. He ran his fingers gently over it before pulling it out just enough to see the words on the back.
Property of Kaz.How long had he wanted to put that cut on Miles? Probably since the day they met. He just hadn’t recognized his feelings for what they were back then. Hell, he’d barely realized what they were when they’d been together the first time around. He’d known then that he didn’t deserve Miles, and that was why he’d let him go, taking the easy way out. He could’ve spent the last fourteen years with Miles if he hadn’t been such a fucking coward.
He dropped into his desk chair, squeezing the leather between his fingers as he drew in a deep breath. He was done taking the easy way out. This wasn’t happening the way he’dplanned, but somehow it was almost better because he had Miles now.
He put the cut back in the box, smiling to himself. He couldn’t wait to see it on Miles.
Running footsteps on the stairs had him snapping his head up.
“We’ve got movement,” Kian said, popping his head through the door.
