“Worry. Yeah, I’ve noticed,” he said with a teasing tone in his voice.
“Oh, you’ve noticed?”
Kaz felt his lips quirk up at the corners. “It’s hard not to.”
Miles looked ready to rip him a new one, so he silenced him with a hard kiss. Miles responded immediately, fingers sliding into his hair, body pressing against Kaz’s, lips parting eagerly for his tongue. He loved every second of it.
He turned Miles, backing him toward the long table, lifting him onto it when they reached it. He slid his hands down Miles’s legs to push them apart so he could step between them. Miles moaned into his mouth, fingers digging into his scalp. Need thrummed through his veins, his cock hardening with every sound Miles made.
He pulled back, meeting Miles’s heated gaze. He was panting, eyes roving over Kaz, as he leaned back on his hands in open invitation.
A smile spread on his lips.
Miles was about to be late again. Very late.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Miles
HE WOKE up alone in Kaz’s bed, turning over and grabbing Kaz’s pillow to squeeze against his chest. He buried his nose in it, breathing in Kaz’s scent. That mix of leather and his citrus shampoo always made him feel more at ease. It made him feel at home.
It was hard to believe this was real. That this was truly his life now. Waking up every morning in Kaz’s bed felt like a dream. Though it would be a much better?if not dirtier?dream, if Kaz was still in the bed with him.
He stretched his arms over his head, yawning as his back popped. Not only was he still working on the clubhouse, but Kaz gave him a workout every damned night. The thought of it made him smile to himself, heat trickling to his cheeks. It was the best sex he’d had since… well, Kaz.
He dressed, intending to find Kaz and drag him back up so they could shower together. He’d never felt more cared for than when Kaz washed his hair with such tenderness. He was of a mind to make Kaz promise he’d do it every day.
He walked out of the bedroom and down the hallway, poking his head into Emma’s room to find it empty. He’d barely seen her the past few days, and he was worried. Whatever she was busy doing, it had to be something safe, though. Kaz wouldn’t have sent her somewhere dangerous.
He heard voices from the living room and started down the stairs, though the second Kaz spoke, he came to a halt, his heartjumping and his eyes closing as he let that deep timbre wash over him.
“We’ll figure it out.”
“We’d better figure it out soon,” someone he thought might be Wilder said. “We need someone to keep track of our expenses before we blow through our budget, andyoucan’t keep doing it. You’ve got more than enough on your plate. Especially if you want to keep that man of yours happy.”
“Nothing’s gonna prevent me from doing that,” Kaz said, his voice deep and growly.
A smile flittered across Miles’s lips as he imagined the stern look on Kaz’s face as he spoke, probably glowering at poor Wilder.
He figured if this was club business they wanted to keep secret, they wouldn’t have been talking about it where anyone might hear, so he continued down the stairs, though he did make sure his steps were more audible than before.
Kaz was waiting for him at the end of the stairs, his smile warm if not a little mischievous. Miles ran a hand through his unruly hair and offered Kaz a wry smile.
“Morning,” he mumbled, stepping straight into Kaz’s open arms.
“Morning, Sweetheart.”
Kaz’s arms wrapped around him just felt so right.
“Why didn’t you wake me?” he asked with a yawn.
Kaz raised a brow at him and said, “Because then we’d still be in bed.”
Miles pressed his lips together, heat unfurling inside him at that hungry look in Kaz’s eyes. He blinked at Kaz. “Sowhydidn’t you wake me?”
Laughter rumbled through Kaz, who pressed a kiss to Miles’s temple before tugging him toward the table. They ate breakfast together, and Miles held his tongue, questions burning to beasked, but they weren’t alone. Kaz definitely wouldn’t answer with anyone else around. So, he waited, he ate, and he laughed at Kian’s jokes. Then he laughed even harder when Kian went just a little too far and pissed Ciara off, and had to run away from Nicky, who had murder in her eyes and a wicked smile on her lips.
Miles stood, then leaned down and pressed a kiss to Kaz’s cheek, his words low as he said, “I’m gonna go shower.”
