“I don't want this to end.”
“It doesn't have to.”
He helped me back into my clothes and lifted me effortlessly, carrying me through my bedroom window. He set me down gently beside my bed, and for a moment, I thought he was going to leave.
“Stay,” I said quickly. “We don't have to do more, but I'd love it if you held me.”
Relief spread across his features. “Are you sure?”
“Very sure.”
He kicked off his shoes and climbed into bed with me, pulling me on top of him, his tail coiling around my waist, his wings holding me close. I rested my head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
“This changes everything,” I said softly.
“Is that okay?”
“More than okay.” I tilted my head to look at him. “I want everything with you, Feydin. All of it.”
“Even if we end up somewhere else or lose this place?”
“Especially then. You said home isn't a place anymore. You're right. Home is this. It’s you.”
He tightened his arms around me.
Chapter 23
Feydin
Iwoke up to Dazy tracing patterns on my t-shirt with her fingertip. Sunlight filtered through the bedroom curtains, casting golden light across her bare shoulders. She laid draped across me, her head pillowed on my chest, my tail wrapped around her waist.
“Good morning,” she said softly when I kissed the top of her head.
“Good morning. How long have you been awake?”
“A few minutes. I was thinking.”
“About what?”
She tilted her head to look at me, and the smile that spread across her face made my heart skip. “About how perfect last night was.”
Pure satisfaction roared through me. The memory of her coming apart from my mouth, the taste of her on my tongue, the way she'd cried out my name, rushed back in vivid detail.
“It was perfect,” I said.
She pushed herself up, her hair falling around her face in sunset waves. “I've never felt anything like that before.”
“Neither have I.”
The truth of that statement hit me hard. In all my years, through various encounters before my dormancy, nothing had come close to the intensity of being with Dazy. The mating bond, combined with my growing love for her, made every touch, every kiss, every moment electric.
“I should probably get up,” she said, though she made no move to leave. “Make coffee. Start the day.”
“Stay here a little longer.” I tightened my arms around her, my tail too. “The day can wait.”
She laughed, the sound vibrating against my chest. “Is this what you're like in the mornings? Clingy?”
Was I being clingy? I released her immediately, concerned I was being too possessive. “I'm sorry. You can get up if you want to.”
