“I would be disappointed if you did.” I chuckle as she lays back on my chest.
“I once had an MS Hug so bad I vomited all over my scrubs and the doctor I was doing rounds with.” I run my fingers through her curls and lie back against the pillow.
“One time, I flipped a tractor and cut my femoral artery and began bleeding out all over this beautiful girl I had a massive crush on.” It’s her turn to let out a laugh before she tries to one-up me again.
“One time, I was on my period during an attack and couldn’t change my pads myself.” Oh, I am so winning this game.
“One time, when I was about eighteen, I tried to show off by riding a bull. I got thrown off, landed on my ass in such a way that every time I moved or sat down for a week after, I would shit myself.” It works. Indy lets out the loudest, sweetest laugh ever while raising her hand.
“Okay, you win.”
She smiles at me as I place my hand on her neck and lean in to whisper right next to her mouth, “I’m going to kiss you now unless you tell me no.” She looks from my mouth up to my eyes.
“Okay,” she manages to get out before my lips crash against hers in a passionate kiss. She slides her tongue against my lips, causing me to growl as I grant her access. She slips her tongue into my mouth and instantly tangles around mine while my hands get lost in her long locks.
“You’re mine,” I whisper, almost desperately, as I kiss my way down her neck. “Tell me, baby girl. I need to hear it.”
“I’m yours,” she whines. “And you’re mine, right?”
My kisses stop on her collarbone before lifting my head to stare at her. “Little Darlin’, I’ve always been yours.” A whimper escapes her throat as I pull her down for another kiss.
I distinctly hear the rumbling of thunder, but for once, Indy doesn’t jump or shake. Instead, she deepens the kiss, and it’s now that I am so thankful for that tornado watch and this tiny ass bathtub.
Chapter35
Indy
“You seem to be doing really well since your last relapse.” My doctor gives me a smile that, for once, doesn’t look forced. Dr. Mathis is the one that gave me my MS diagnosis, and he has been my lead doctor since.
“I feel well,” I say brightly as I stand. “I was hoping we could talk about physical therapy to help me with steps?”
“I don’t want you getting discouraged, Indy. The last time we tried–”
“I know.” I close my eyes, remembering losing my ability to go up and down steps and how I freaked out. I was in bed, unable to move for over a week. “I just want to try. I’m realistic this time, I promise.” Dr. Mathis nods his bald head at me while typing on his laptop.
“The orders have been sent. Give them a call to schedule your first session.” I smile brightly at him as he opens the door to walk us out. “And Indy, whatever you’re doing, keep it up.”
Walking out to the waiting room, I see Stevie sitting in a chair waiting for me. “How did it go?” She asks as we head to the elevator.
“I get to go back to physical therapy.” I smile when she gives me a small hug.
“That’s awesome! I’m sure Ash and Derek will be so happy to hear it! Derek is back, right?” I nod as we head down the elevator to the parking garage.
“I haven’t seen him yet. He got home after you picked me up, so it’ll be our first time seeing each other in a week.” I’m so excited to see him. Derek and I returned from Kansas two weeks ago, and shortly after, he had to fly out to Virginia. Apparently, Carter is a father. Which he swore up, down, and sideways that he had no idea about until a three-year-old boy, Wyatt, was left on the doorstep of the ranch with a note saying that the boy was Carter’s problem now.
Derek sent me a picture, and Wyatt is the cutest little boy ever and definitely the spitting image of Carter, right down to his crooked smile. Along with that, and his sister Theo needing surgery, there was news on his dad, which caused him to have to stay out there longer than expected. I wish I could’ve gone, but I didn’t think him trying to help at the ranch and worrying about me would be best, so I stayed home.

Once we parkin the back at Hel’s, I text Derek to let him know we are here. I barely make it out of Stevie’s car before I spot him jogging down the steps. I go to say hi, but Derek surprises me by scooping me up and hugging me tightly to his chest as his hand tangles into my hair.
“There’s my girl,” he manages to get out before crashing his lips to mine. I’m mildly aware of Stevie groaning something before walking away, but I can’t be bothered to think about it. Derek is home, and he is holding me, kissing me in public.
“Virginia!” Ash whines from up the steps. “Come on!” Derek breaks our kiss before groaning and rolling his eyes. He turns his head to shout back at my brother.
“Stop being a damn cock block! I’m having a fucking moment here with my girl!” I look at him with the biggest grin on my face as he smiles back at me. “My sweet and sexy as fuck girl.” I blush while kissing him again, happier than ever to have him back home.
