Gage commented, “A bad one.” He could use a few more adjectives to describe how bad Jean was at his job. Drake shocked him again, then tossed the cattle prod away from him and began to beat Jean up. Peter eventually hauled Drake off Jean.
Pepper took over and snarled, “MY PUP! LET ME GET HIM FOR WHAT HE DID TO MELANIE!” I agreed, “You should let him go, Peter.” Peter shot me a look, but I just shrugged. Peter said, “I’m not a Beta blood so I’m out of depth here. This role is usually reversed, but I do know Drake wants Jean to suffer longer.” Everyone had to be too logical right now.
My dad spoke, “Edward, tell us about the situation with Trevor and Melanie or I’ll let my son unleash his rage.” He lowered his voice, “And if you think ripping your arm off was bad, let me tell you my son’s rage far exceeds that. He’s skilled at torture. It’s taking effort for every single person who has a bond with him not to hurt you because he’s so angry.” Good.
I snarled at Edward in warning. Cayden chimed in, “I want to know what their past is, because I know they have one.” Edward frowned, “I don’t exactly know what happened.” I scoffed, “You’re trying evasions ON ME?! YOU DISRESPECTFUL SON OF A BITCH!”
Before I could hit him Peter did. He snarled, “You punished her because of the fake letter from me, did you not?” Edward answered, “I did.” Peter grabbed him asking, “Did you know it wasn’t from me?” Edward laughed, “Of course I did. Ajax wrote most of them.”
He looked at me saying, “They knew that Melanie thought Alpha Alexander was her mate. I don’t know how, but they just did. They couldn't have her running off to see him. I told them I couldn’t have Black Mountain descend on us. So, they forged the letters for her sixteenth birthday. A lot actually. She had letters given to her in my office, pretty much daily, for months. Third party people started writing them.”
Tristan shouted, “WHAT?!” I snarled, “YOU GAVE HER DAILY LETTERS ABOUT ME PROMISING TO REJECT HER?!” EJ’s grip tightened on me with my uncles. Edward sighed, “Yes. We couldn’t have you down there. Even if you weren’t her mate, which I did not believe, you would’ve told the McAlister’s. You would’ve stood with them against us. So multiple people in those letters told her you didn’t want her.”
Oden snarled in my head furiously. Drake asked, “Punished her, how? How did you punish my daughter for a goddamn lie that you KNEW was a lie?” Edward answered, “We took her to the punishing field and whipped her.” I cut in, “That’s not all. Don’t try evasions with me here, you piece of shit.”
Edward ground his teeth trying not to say it but I knew my mom was all over this. He admitted, “We dragged her there in Silver chains.” I roared at him. Gage linked, “Let him finish it.” Fine. I knew my eyes were blazing brighter than they ever had.
Edward continued, “Booker threw her in the hole and we heard her wrist break when she landed. I sent Trevor to get her after three days.” He stopped talking abruptly. I linked Gage, “Did that sound like the end of the story? I didn’t hear that dead motherfucker’s name.” Gage agreed, “It can’t be the end.”
I snarled out loud, “Then what?” Edward frowned, “I don’t exactly know.” Peter gaped then asked, “What do you mean you don’t know? You don’t know what Trevor did to Melanie? That’s what we are asking you about.”
Edward sighed, “I know that was the last straw for my family. Caine nearly killed Trevor. He only stopped because Melanie whimpered in pain, and he took her to the hospital. I had to Alpha Command him not to finish the job. Melanie was in the hospital for a week or a week and a half. My wife refused to let me near her. Jean’s mate wouldn’t let us near her either.”
He said, “We don’t know what Trevor did. He was just supposed to get her out, but I guess his mate had died that day. I didn’t know that when I sent him. Booker said afterwards that Trevor found her dying and couldn’t save her. He was in a state.”
Tristan asked, “What kind of fucking Alpha doesn’t know a pack member’s mate died?” I answered, “A shitty ass one.” Edward winced, “As I said, Caine found Melanie and Trevor. He knows. My family had been back for a day, and everyone was worried about where Melanie was.”
“I honestly thought she was at the King’s house recovering. I don’t know what happened between them. That’s the god’s honest truth.” My mom snorted, “Sadly it fucking is even know though he does know something about he’s not saying.” He replied, “We heard some things, but I don’t know exactly.”
My mom scoffed, “What a pathetic shit stain. Eric, I fucking can’t with this asshole. He’s a damn Alpha.” She got in Edward’s line of vision. She practically growled, “You let a wolf be hidden from a teenager. So, I’m going to take your goddamn wolf from you, and I want you to know that.”
“You are not worthy of the fucking title Alpha. You sell your pack off for a profit. You made them live in fear and fucking squalor. You punished those that fought back. You punished a child, A CHILD, for the death of her family knowing it didn’t happen.”
She shouted, “Even if that’s what happened it wouldn’t have been her fucking fault, but you knew they weren’t dead. You TORTURED that little girl. You don’t fucking know what happened between two pack members when I’ll go on record and say Trevor should’ve been killed for it.” Definitely.
She screamed at him, “IT’S YOUR GODDAMN JOB TO KNOW THOSE THINGS, YOU PRICK COWARD MOTHERFUCKING ASSHOLE! UGH!” My mom screamed and blew off two of his fingers. She shrugged, “Oops.” I snorted. The grips around me released then my mom popped out.
I linked my dad, “This brings up shit for her, doesn’t it?” My dad answered, “Yes, but I’ll take care of your mom.” Out loud my dad said, “I think we are done for the night. These two aren’t going anywhere for such a long ass time it’s crazy.”
I turned to my mate’s dad saying, “Drake, I will make sure every Warrior knows that your family, the Kyle’s, and Richards family are welcome in the dungeons with these prisoners anytime you’d like.” Tristan ground out, “Thank you, Alexander. Jared is raging. He and his siblings are plotting with their charms.” Good.
Drake shook my hand. The pain in his eyes was undeniable. His voice broke as he said, “You take care of her right now while we can’t. She needs it.” Tristan agreed, “He’s right. Melanie’s always tried to handle her emotions by locking herself away, but she needs people. She needs to talk it through, she always has.”
I told him, “I will. It will take time, but these wounds will heal, T.” Tristan nodded, and I popped him out. EJ was right behind me in my treehouse. Tristan instantly went to his knees. He cried, “Oh god. My little sister. How could that happen to Ladybug?” I admitted, “I don’t know.”
Tristan whispered, “Jase felt so strongly about what happened when he was tortured. I should’ve looked into it. I’m their big brother.” He cried for a long time while I put my hand on his back. EJ said, “I get it, T. You know I do. It’s hard being the oldest.”
Tristan looked at me asking, “You saw all that when you pushed? They hurt her? She wore a sack and they called her a slave?” I nodded, “They didn’t let her heal after being shot. She was moving pretty slowly. She looked so confused that Edward was allowing all of it to happen to her.” Tristan cried harder.
I told him, “Let me take you to Everly.” He nodded. I popped him home and found the rest of the McAlister’s together. Everly ran to Tristan. The only one missing was Kai, but it was well past his bedtime.
I noted Addison was holding onto Jason. She wasn’t marked, but they seemed ok. Jason looked at me asking, “Is it true? You saw all that? Just from dirty dishes being left in the sink?” I answered, “Yes, just from dirty dishes.”
Addison cried, “I’m sorry we couldn’t stop them.” I told Jason, “Your girl yelled at her dad in front of the whole pack that he was evil, and she hated him. She told him that he should leave Melanie alone.” Addison cried, “It wasn’t enough. We tried to pick the lock and get her out, but we couldn’t do it.”
Jason tilted her face to his assuring her, “That’s not your fault. You were a teenager and you tried to help. That’s what matters.” I asked, “Is everything good with you two?” Addison smiled softly saying, “Yes. We have more to talk about, but I get it. He’s been tortured in other ways. Some the same as Mel with his time with the Hunters.” She growled that part.
She added, “What happened wasn’t fair. There’s so much hurt but Mel…” She trailed off. So, I offered, “I know.” MaryBeth asked, “But Mel what?” I was going to let Addison answer, but I could see the warring loyalty on her face.
