Oden said, “Her wolf is struggling. Just as this is too much for mate, it’s too much for her. She believed to steadfastly that Ajax and Jason hurt mate. She knows both their hearts now and feels tremendously guilty for everything.” It was hardly her fault.
I explained, “Melanie still loves all of you, but she’s hurt pretty badly. They targeted her and used you all to do it. They wrote letters from you all and while we have only seen the one from Peter we know they weren’t nice. Unfortunately, that pain and hurt Melanie feels doesn’t go away overnight.”
Melinda cried, “But it wasn’t true! We love her too, Alexander. We do. I’ve missed her so much! We were compelled not to link her! I thought about it so many times but…” I held up my hands assuring her, “I know that you love her.”
I admitted, “I don’t know why she didn’t link you. Nor did I know that’s why you didn’t link her, but it makes sense. She knows deep down that you love her. It’s just going to take time for everyone to move past this. We have that to give her.”
Ben stood saying “Please take me back to your pack. I have things to say to the pieces of shit who told my granddaughter I disowned her and then proceeded treated her like a slave. Who handed her letters from me and my family, knowing we didn’t say any of those words.” I replied, “I can do that.”
Dalton walked in with Paige. I could smell they’d had a time. Oden chuckled, “Caulder said it wasn’t sex.” I knew that, but they’d had an orgasm. Good for them. Dalton announced, “Everyone get a few hours of sleep in. We have a meeting with that pack from out of town tomorrow in Black Mountain.” Everyone nodded.
I was relieved to see Paige was tucked into Dalton’s side. I linked him, “You two look cozy.” He replied, “We are. She’s very angry, it’s just not at me anymore.” I admitted, “I’m happy for you man. What about Dakota and Avery?”
He replied, “She was the calmest of them all. It seems like she’s pretty good at reading people. So, they are in a good place. Paige, Avery, and Addison are all confused, but they’re no longer mad at us. They are all actually really sad about the whole thing.”
I admitted, “That’s understandable. I’m glad you guys are ok though.” Being separated from your mate sucked and I’d been a little worried the women were going to ask me to take them back to our pack. I would’ve done it, but I would’ve felt shitty for doing so.
I popped Ben back to our pack. I told him, “The dungeons are open to you and your pack leadership.” He nodded, “Good. Zane will want in too. Tank as well. Hell, Ziggy and Adeline are a mess over the whole thing.”
Ziggy was Tank’s mate, and he used to guard her. Not to mention he was friends with Jason, so that I understood. I’d fought him more than once and he was good. Zane was their former Male Lead Warrior, and he’d trained with Melanie a lot.
Ben asked, “Where are you going?” I answered, “To the gym to beat something to shit.” Ben snorted, “It’s not a bad idea.” I replied, “And I know that you already knew where I was going.” He winked, “I figured.” He would since he was a Beta blood.
I walked into the gym and started to hit heavy bag after heavy bag. A throat cleared behind me. I turned and spotted Cayden. It reminded me we needed to talk about some stuff. I groaned, “FUCK!” Cayden laughed, “What’s up now? I was just going to ask if you wanted to spar.”
I linked my dad and EJ, “Are you still up?” My dad replied first, “Yes. What’s up?” EJ answered, “Yes.” I told both, “We need to talk about something.” I linked Phil and Gage, “Are you guys up?” Phil replied first, “Consider me always up from now on. I gotta be on the alert for assholes trying to SELL MY MATE!”
Gage said, “I missed something. What now about our pack’s Beta Female? A GAMMA IS ALWAYS CONFUSED!” I linked them both, “Sierra is marked now though, right?” Phil answered, “Damn straight.”
I replied, “Then it’s cemented that no one can take her from you.” Gage chimed in, “Me again. WHO TRIED?!” EJ linked me, “Dad and I are in the office.” I told Phil and Gage, “Get to the office.” Gage growled, “FINE! Don’t answer my questions. I will find the answers on my own.” He was going to be very grumpy.
Oden snorted, “Gun said he’s going to ask Freya.” That would definitely get him an answer. I looked at Cayden asking, “Uncle Bjourn is still here, right?” He nodded. Uncle Bjourn walked in the gym. I grabbed him saying, “Come on.”
I popped the three of us to the office. Cassie popped in a second later. My parents and EJ were already there. When Phil and Gage walked in, I took off my shoes and socks. Phil snorted, “Everyone prepare to be slack jawed. We are starting with a doozy. At least I won’t be alone anymore in this weirdness.”
Gage muttered, “If you’d tell a Gamma shit, he’d know.” He paused then said, “Wait, I think I know this one.” I rolled my eyes then lifted up my feet. EJ was trying not to laugh but his amusement was echoing through the bond. Cassie asked, “Why would you get a star and moon tattoo on both feet? Why whiteand black? Is it to match Oden?” I stood, “Oh, just wait for it.” I backed away and shifted into Oden.
Phil said, “They are so not ready. Where is Dylan with his popcorn when you need some?” I lifted up my paws. Everyone’s jaws dropped. I shifted back and snapped myself clothes. EJ asked, “What the hell can tattoo a wolf?”
Phil snorted, “Electricity and weirdness.” I echoed that statement, “Melanie did it. Well, Freya did. Melanie has the same tattoo on her feet except hers are all white. I haven’t told her about mine. We were having sex and this electricity built around us and shot into me. Then my wolf and I had tattoos. Does anyone know what the hell that could be?”
My mom asked, “Have you shared your light with her?” I admitted, “Yes, but it wasn’t intentional. I don’t have the power of electricity.” Gage said, “Which is sad. You should, it sounds cool.” I shot him a look, “Does anyone have that power, mom? You can control the weather and lightning, but Melanie was literally shooting electricity.”
My dad said, “That does seem more Fae than wolf, since we can’t do that.” Phil nodded, “That’s what I said, but it was definitely her.” EJ surmised, “You don’t want anyone outside this group to know. Why?” Gage said, “We definitely should keep that quiet.”
I sighed, “This is something we can figure out. The whole big group doesn't need to know right now. Melanie has enough on her plate, and I don’t think she knows about it. I still need to tell her I shared my light.”
EJ gasped, “Alexander!” I explained, “She was being so weird about me marking her and thinking her name was some big secret I didn’t know.” Gage offered, “Which you knew.” I admitted, “Yes, but I didn’t want her to run off. I didn’t share my light intentionally, or sneakily. It just happened.” They all nodded.
We talked for a few more minutes. My mom linked me, “Talk to her about sharing your light.” I assured her, “I plan to.” I said out loud, “Another thing to discuss with this group. I’m pretty sure I went to a Resistance building.”
Phil sighed, “Alas, this is why I never sleep. Welcome to the no sleep club everyone.” EJ asked, “Why do you think it was a Resistance building?” I told them, “What I said was true, I left Melanie and Sierra in Louisiana. I just left them there twice.”
My mom snorted, “I fucking said he was being evasive. I said that.” Dad agreed, “You did, Angel.” I explained, “Melanie called me because she was in trouble. She needed me and texted me an address.” My dad sighed, “Don’t you just bet it was in Missouri?”
My mom snorted, “I’m not taking that fucking bet. It was absofuckinglutely in Missouri.” I confirmed, “It was. They were driving areallynice car. The outside of the building had to have been spelled, because I didn’t sense a charm. The outside looked weathered, but the inside was immaculate. I only saw the garage and I know Uncle Gunner and Micah would jizz about the technology.” EJ snorted.
Uncle Bjourn laughed. I told them, “Uncle Gunner found the shell corporation that owns the building. It’s the same one that the car is registered to, and Melanie’s other place.” My dad sighed, “Great. Well, at least Gunner has it, and we will get some answers.”
