I chuckled, “Tory, do you think he thought I didn’t know procedures for the Summit?” Tory said, “He didn’t think any of us do.” Gia said, “Yeah, I think he wants us to whip up a snack for him. I did hear he thought Female Lead Warrior Carry Farmer should feed him when he showed up in Yellow Hills.”
He dismissed her saying, “That was long ago.” I replied, “Yet you seem to think I’d agree to meet with you. I love TeleTed and Matt.” He rolled his eyes, “Matt…” I cut him off, “That’s former Beta Matt to you. I know he didn’t give you permission to call him by his name.”
He glared at me, “I want you to end this farce. A group of women cannot be the Alpha and leadership of a pack. Your brothers are and they are letting you play at Alpha.” I laughed, “Are they? Because I recall completing all of the necessary steps to be an Alpha. Just like my brothers. I also recall my starting figures for the business I have launched, along with my Beta and Gamma, having garnered our pack, and my brothers, millions.”
I casually asked, “Tory, what’s the exact figure?” I winked, “Beta bloods know such things off the top of their heads.” He glared at me. Rain warned, “I’ll come out if he doesn’t back off.” I replied, “You’ll probably have to.” Tory answered, “We are at a little over five million. I’d give the exact number, but I don’t think they’d understand the mathematics of it all.”
They growled at her. I snarled, “You growl at my Beta in a meeting with me ever again and I will bring down every single sanction I can think of for you on top of a dominance fight. Are we clear?” I let Rain show through. I was stronger than all of them and they knew it. They didn’t say anything.
I used my Alpha tone, “I said, are we clear?” Alpha Boudreaux tried to maintain eye contact with me, but he looked away first. It was definitely my first victory at this Summit. He stood, “I see you won’t see reason. Eventually you’ll be challenged.”
Gia snorted, “Are you serious? By whom? Because I was trained by my dad, we all were. We earned our positions unlike some people. I’ve heard one could argue you were given yours because of your last names.” They turned red, stood, and walked out.
I sat down and rubbed my temples. I told Tory and Gia, “We knew this would happen. If they challenge us in an actual forum we will show them. If you can goad any of those that doubt us into a fight they didn’t plan, do it.” They both grinned at me, and we got down to work.
Flashback Ends
Tory asked, “Where did you go, Cass?” I chuckled, “Just thinking about our first Summit together.” They both grinned, “We kicked ass.” I nodded, “We really did. We handled everything better than anyone who didn’t know us expected.” We’d even signed autographs for some kids that were there.
Alexander walked into my office. He asked, “Want to take a walk, little sister?” I smiled, “Sure.” We walked outside in silence. After we’d walked a mile Alexander said, “I didn’t know you had your own stash of Laxenread.” I snorted, “I don’t.”
Alexander nodded, “Then The Resistance was there.” I didn’t say anything. Alexander bumped my shoulder, “I didn’t like feeling you in pain like that. Don’t do it again.” I laughed, “I’ll try. Do you…?” I trailed off. He asked, “Do I what?”
I rubbed my temples, “I’m not saying this is a thing, but do you have any idea if there’s a supernatural that could see beyond a Fairy charm?” He asked, “Huh?” I explained, “Someone who sees who you really were instead of what your charmed appearance would be?”
Alexander frowned, “Someone who can see around a Fairy charm?” I nodded, “I didn’t look like me to you, right? When you showed up today?” Alexander shook his head, “No, you didn’t. I knew it was youthough from the bond.” I nodded, “But not everyone has a bond. Is there someone who could tell who I really was?”
Alexander snorted, “A Goddess?” I laughed, “I’m serious.” Alexander bumped me again, “So am I. No one can do that, Cass.” I frowned. Then how did Bravo One? Or rather, how did Ashley? She’s wolf less. Cayden swore she was only a Werewolf with nothing else mixed in. So did Micah. They’ve been around enough supernaturals to know.
Alexander nudged me asking, “You really think someone could tell?” I nodded, “I really do. I just don’t know how.” Alexander thought about it, “I’ll look into it quietly, but I’m serious. I think only a Goddess could do that. Or a God.”
He shrugged, “I’m going with goddess since I believe our sniper was there having your back. Julianna swears that girl is a wolf. There is no way that girl should be able to see through a charm. Uncle Bjourn would’ve sent you with a strong charm which means Uncle Aiden gave it to him. No one should be able to see around his magic.” I pulled out the ring and stared at it.
I could tell if it was my uncle that had charmed it. We both focused. I sighed, “You’re right, Uncle Aiden charmed this.” Alexander nodded. I frowned, “This doesn't make sense. No one is more powerful than Uncle Aiden. This is the strongest Fairy charm. If someone can see past his charms…”
Alexander interrupted and winked, “Then I’m telling you, she’s a goddess. Maybe she is. She seems to be all knowing, and convinced I’ll hate her. So, she’s not exactly all knowing. About the Ring she is though. Personal relationships, not so much. If you see her again, do me a favor and shout that I don’t hate her.” I snorted, “She’s a little crazy.”
Alexander shrugged, “We could all use a little crazy.” I frowned because I disagreed. She had no regard for her life. She was definitely reckless, but she cared about the people with her. She put her life on the line for that girl who was pinned.
I told him, “She put her life on the line for me and another girl, but I can’t even thank her for it.” I hadn’t meant to say that out loud. Alexander didn’t push me on it though. He just let the whole thing drop. He put his arm around me, and we sat in silence.
Then Phil portaled in to us with Tory. Phil was out of breath, “Red Run is being attacked.” Tory added, “It’s been declared an emergency!” I grabbed Tory and my brother grabbed his Beta. I nodded to Alexander and the four of us popped into mayhem.
I conjured my swords. Alexander shifted and started attacking the rogues. I saw Jason in wolf form fighting alone. I popped to Ajax and shot my sunlight at the rogues surrounding him. He howled in delight, and I winked at him. I greeted, “Hey, Ajax.” He smiled at me. Jason’s wolf was so sweet.
Tory’s wolf reached my side in seconds.Rain said, “Ok, it’s ONLY fair I get to come out and fight. I didn’t at the drug thing, but these are rogues. I am a wolf god damn it!” She was right. I shifted into Rain and growled. I gave her full control and enjoyed her showing these rogues what happens when you cross an Alpha.
I saw a portal open then Cayden charged out. Tory linked, “You’re gonna get that good D, girl.” I snorted, “Yeah, we had a fight earlier too.” She replied, “I’ll plan to not hear from you for days in your realm then.” She was probably right, but both of us knew that wouldn’t be that long here.
Rain purred as she took down another rogue. Cayden yelled out a war cry and jumped into the fray. He fought until he reached Jason and me. We had everything under control easily. Rain said, “This attack doesn’t make sense.” It didn’t but rogues weren’t known for being logical.
We were winning, but there were a LOT of rogues here. The second my mom popped in with Cousin Emmaline, Rain howled in victory. My dad roared as he shifted. We’d killed the remaining forces within ten minutes.
I shifted back and snapped myself into clothes. Cayden grabbed me and yanked me into a hug. He was breathing heavily. He linked me, “Ok, so I have a new way to live. I’m just going to follow you everywhere all the time.” I snorted, “You don’t have time to do that.” Cayden retorted, “I’ll make the damn time. When I felt you fighting without me again…” He trailed off.
Alexander and I jerked our heads hearing shot after shot being fired. A massive shootout was happening quite a ways off in the distance. I frowned because I didn’t know this area that well. I looked atAlexander. He shrugged. I asked, “Jase, what’s in that direction?” Jason answered, “The only thing that way is the Kyle’s cabin.” My jaw dropped. Alexander’s tone was urgent when he asked, “Is anyone at the cabin?” Jason replied, “The Kyle’s are. Well, Chelsea and Peter anyway. It’s their anniversary.” I gasped.
Alexander yelled, “FUCK!” He popped away. Tory linked, “Go with him.” I nodded and thought of Chelsea before I popped to her. Cayden was with me because he’d never let me go. I was shocked by her state. She had some blood on her naked body and looked like she’d seen Death himself.
