I wiped tears away, “I feel like EJ and Elise have it all down cold.” My mom laughed, “EJ and Elise are in a unique place. They’ve known each other their whole lives, and what they were to each other. They still have their struggles, everyone does. No one’s communication skills are fucking perfect.” I was still pissed I should’ve known Cayden longer, but Cora interfered.
My mom brought me out of those thoughts, “BELIEVE me if it could be perfected, someone would’ve done it by now. Marriage is hard fucking work. Some days you just live to fight another day because you love the person at your side more than anything.” I nodded, “I love him so much.”
She nodded, “I know you do. Trials will always be there throughout your marriage. I don’t know what happened today, but I am DAMN proud of you. I could feel your pain, but I felt you stand to fight. That’s what we do. We fucking stand. No matter what it is. In this example, you stand just like you did for your life, for your man.”
I nodded, “I just hate when he’s mad at me.” My mom snorted, “When you go home take him Twizzlers and go hunt a fox with him. An actual fucking fox this time. Or whatever. Put your spin on it. Then fuck his brains out before you talk to him calmly about the whole ordeal.”
I snorted, “Sometimes, you give the strangest mom advice.” My mom laughed, “Yeah, well it works. TRUST me. I’ve seen ALL your aunts calm your uncles down. Candy, hunting, fucking, and talking. They have it down to a science.”
I laughed, “What do you do with dad? Wait. Do I want to know the answer?” My mom winked, “What I do depends on how mad he is. I get your dad’s wolf going by popping away from him and making him catch me. Sometimes we fight in between rounds of having sex.” Rain huffed in my head.
She grinned, “Which leads to more sex, then we talk. It’s a whole cycle. Sometimes I just spin him out so much until he just has to fuck me first. Then he’s calmer when we are done.” I snorted, “I guess I’ll find what works with us.” My mom advised, “I’d try your aunt's way first. Or some variation of it. He is a full blooded Hackura after all.” I laughed, “I’ll keep that in mind.” We popped back to the main house.
I ate dinner with my family. Aunt Lexi had brought her youngest daughter Allison over to see TJ. They were so cute as mates. I couldn’t help but smile. I knew Allison was named after Lexi’s mother. I thought it was really sweet. TJ sat on the floor and played with blocks with Allison. She loved to hand him the blocks, and he would build her something out of them and she’d clap. It really was adorable.
My Beta and Gamma inclined their heads. I walked into my office that they used and worked in. I asked, “What’s up guys?” Gia said, “We have a few things for you to look at since you’re here.” I winked, “Anything to help out my Gamma.”
I looked over their work and complimented them, “A girl could not ask for a better Gamma and Beta. Seriously Tory and Gia, you guys are killing it.” I signed off on everything. I asked, “Is anyone giving you shit about our all girl group?” We’d had some of the older crowds give us a hard time. Rain laughed in my head.
Our first Summit together was a time and a half. I knew my mom pulled shit and my dad definitely kicked some ass, but we proved ourselves. Alexander, EJ, Toby, Phil, Gage, and Genevieve were by our sides. Genevieve faced her share of shit too.
Flashback
Cassie was nervous. Cayden kissed my temple, “I’ll wrap up this meeting and I’ll be there.” I asked, “Is this suit ok?” He answered, “I think you look damn sexy and I’m barely managing not to rip it off of you.” I’d chosen fitted black slacks with a white button up fitted coat with black accents. My belt was gold, and my top was honestly the risqué part. It was a corset white sweetheart cut.
I told him, “I want us to convey that we aren’t to be fucked with, but we are still sexy.” He nipped my neck, “You’re conveying it. Go be the Alpha you are. I’ll be there soon.” I turned and kissed him. He whispered, “You, Tory, and Gia are going to be great this summit. You have a plan and you’re going to kill it.”
I laughed, “You should’ve heard my mom after she left the meeting where Gia said we were going to kill it.” He threw his head back and laughed. He asked, “Is that why I found Uncle Bjourn cackling overHaley thinking there was a plan to kill someone she didn’t know about?” I nodded, “Yup.” He chuckled and spanked me on the ass.
I opened a portal, hesitating for a moment. I turned back and he sent me all his love and confidence in me before blowing a kiss. I took a deep breath and walked through to the Summit. I’d agreed to meet Gia and Tory in a designated spot, so we’d walk in together.
I saw Aiylee and gasped. She squealed, “OH MY GOD! You look amazing!” I admitted, “I went shopping with mom and she put it all together.” She’d changed it too, so it was exactly what I wanted. I asked, “What are you doing here, cousin?” She snorted, “Do you think I would miss your first Summit as an Alpha? Pshhhh. Don’t talk crazy to me.”
Beagan ran over, “Ugh! I’m late.” I snapped her hair fixed and teased, “I think I know why.” She chuckled, “JP got INTO the suit look.” Aiylee threw her arm over Beagan’s shoulder. She said, “We are the assigned Fairy representatives.”
I raised an eyebrow, “That’s below both of your pay grades so to speak.” Aiylee winked, “But everyone needs to know if they fuck around, they WILL find out. Fairy hijinks style.” Tory said, “I still love how much she curses.”
Aiylee replied her standard, “I lived in this realm for a little bit when I was young. Plus, I come see my aunt, uncle, and cousins often.” Tory nodded. She turned to me, “Are we ready to do this?” I was nervous but every connection I had sent me strength. I took a deep breath then said, “Let’s go.”
The five of us walked in together and instantly had people talking. Someone scoffed, “An all Alpha girl group.” I easily spotted them and felt my mom’s fury. She said, “One should take a look at who is standing nearby before making such asinine fucking statements.” The guy dropped his drink and my mom clocked him.
Aiylee asked, “What happened?” Tory said, “I could guess.” My mom warned, “Don’t you say shit about my daughter and those she wolves who are practically nieces to me or I’ll get your ass. Then I’ll tell my husband what you did.” The guy paled and they scattered. My mom practically gnashed her teeth at their retreating form.
She popped to me and gave me a hug. She said, “You look beautiful.” I linked her, “You didn’t have to do that.” She replied, “I really fucking did. If that jackass and his cohorts think they got away with just a punch to the face, they have another think coming. No one fucks with my kids.”
She hugged Tory, Gia, Aiylee and Beagan. She said, “You all look lovely.” Exsis showed up. He winked at my mom, “Where do the spouses go for the gossip? My lady is working and I’m shmoozing.” Haley snorted, “Yeah, they don’t fucking like us Exsis.” He grinned, “How delightful. Let’s have some fun.” He held his arm out to escort my mom.
She took it. He leaned to kiss Aiylee. He whispered, “Go bebpl them, Freetra Saigal. Zu tyu Tem queen Den they tyu truly Den utterly beneath Zu. Trellesh take anything they Iojay Ze heart. Zu tyu Tem jewel Den they can only hope Ze Kekkel Zu (Go get them, my love. You are a Queen and they are truly and utterly beneath you. Don't take anything they say to heart. You are a jewel and they can only hope to be you).”
She replied, “I love you, Exsis.” He winked, “As I love you.” He shot a glare at everyone near us. It always surprised people when a Fairy openly let them know they were near death. You’d think it would stop, but they saw them as the flighty, fun group. Exsis was letting them know if they messed with Aiylee he’d kill them.
Tory linked, “Well, this is an opening that will be talked about for years.” I confidently walked further inside and greeted Alexander and EJ. Both sent me their feelings that I was doing great. I had some meetings on my own to start. I wanted to establish that I didn’t need to hide behind my brothers. I was an Alpha too.So, I was making that point.
My dad appeared and picked me up and spun me around. He greeted, “Hi, Princess. You look beautiful.” I chuckled, “Thanks, dad.” He linked me, “I’m so proud of you. I’m going to find out what trouble your mom is getting up to. The bond tells me it’s a doozy.” I warned, “You’ll let her do whatever she wants. Trust me.” He growled, “Has someone already been rude to you?” I winked.He stalked off ready to take on the world.
I walked into my meeting surprised it was several older Alpha’s we were not allied with waiting. I greeted cooly, “Alpha Boudreaux, this is a surprise.” Tory growled, “He’s not on our schedule.” I said, “Then I apologize, Alpha Boudreaux, I do not have time to acco…” He cut me, “Yes, you do. This is a joke.”
Rain snarled in my head. I asked, “What is? The fact that you didn’t have your Beta schedule this with mine? I agree. It’s quite rude, but at this moment I won’t file the necessary complaint about it at this moment. Only if you see your way out right now.” He turned red with anger.
