I conjured a water bottle for Cayden and walked to the gym. I spotted Hendrix first. I walked over to him, and he tilted his head to Cayden’s office letting me know where he was. I asked, “Is he alone?” Hendrix nodded, “He is. He just wrapped a meeting.”
I walked inside my mate’s office and closed the door behind me. Rain said, “There’s no need to be nervous. He’ll be happy.” Yet I was still nervous. I handed him the water bottle. He smiled, “I was aboutto go get something to drink.” I teased, “Great minds think alike and all.” He took the water bottle and took a drink.
I watched as his eyes focused on the bottom that said you’re going to be a dad. He choked on the water and spilled it on his desk. I snapped it clean. He looked up at me in surprise, “What now?” I smiled announcing, “I’m pregnant. Are you happy?”
Cayden vaulted over the desk and spun me around. He kissed me, then pulled back looking into my eyes. “You’ve known this whole time?” I sighed, “It never seemed like a good time, with a war looming and all. I guess my shot ran out early and now we are having twins.” Cayden kissed me passionately.
He knocked everything clear off his desk. Rain purred, “That’s so hot.” Yes, it was. Someone knocked and I nearly groaned because I wanted to have sex right now. No, I needed to. Rain agreed, “It’s definitely a need.” I sent that all to Cayden in the bond.
He yelled, “GO AWAY!” I laughed. Cayden tucked my hair behind my ear saying, “I’m going to make love to my beautiful wife who is growing our children inside her.” He did just that. When we were done, I snapped everything back to normal and Cayden kissed me.
I pulled back and started to leave, but he pulled me back to him. He asked, “Where do you think you are going?” I answered, “Back home.” Cayden bit my ear, “I don’t think so. You stick with me.” I rolled my eyes before saying, “I’m in the Hackura realm, and I told Ghiza to stick close. My whole guard is around.”
Cayden nipped my ear again, “I know. I talked to him when I found him around. I asked why and he said he didn’t know.” I replied, “I didn't tell him why. I just told him to stick close. My mom, Angela, Gia, and Tory know. Well and Levi guessed. I think Aunt Torvi and Aunt Astrid know. We should probably tell your parents before the list gets longer. We can tell my family when EJ is back. I’ll tell Alexander when he gets home too.” Cayden kissed me before saying, “Come on.”
He led us out of the gym laughing while everyone watched us. I popped onto his back, and he ran us to his parents. He didn’t stop and knock, he just kept running right on inside their house. I laughed, “Cayden, you’re supposed to knock!” He set me down and yelled, “MOM! DAD!” His parents came running.
I rolled my eyes chastising him, “You’re being dramatic.” Cayden spun me around and kissed me. His dad cleared his throat then asked, “What the fuck is going on, son?” Cayden smiled answering him, “You’re going to be a grandpa.”
His mom shrieked, “FINALLY! Thank Aesir! I’m so excited!” She hugged me while Aaron laughed and pulled Cayden into a hug. Cayden announced, “It’s twins.” Ashlyn squealed, “Good. I see your mate’s genetic makeup is making up for all the time I’ve waited for grandbabies!”
Cayden laughed, “The Conners don’t all know yet, so we are keeping it quiet for now.” His dad agreed, “Alright, we can do that. Be sure to wear full armor when you tell her dad.” I rolled my eyes, “We are married.”
Aaron laughed, “Yes but being pregnant is proof his baby is having sex.” I grumbled, “Men are weird. I think it will be fine because my mom would kick his ass if he mentioned anything like that.” Ashlyn laughed, “She really would, then warn him not to make her get her sexist stick.” Rain laughed, “It’s funny because it’s true. I love our mom.” So did I.
Cayden barely let me out of his sight after that. Ghiza was so close to me he was almost a second skin, and it was wearing thin. Rain growled, “I’m going to go postal if we can’t get a second to ourselves.” So, I might lean Hackura during pregnancies with a little bit of Fairy and wolf dabbled in. Cayden better hope I gave birth like a Fairy, or his ass was in trouble.
It was a fine ass though. Rain purred, “Yes, it is.” My hormones demanded sex ALL the time. Not that Cayden complained. He was more than happy to satisfy all my urges. I was basically ignoring that at this point, my entire extended family knew what was going on.
I was still pouting because I’d missed Alexander when he came to this realm. We hadn’t told Uncle Bjourn our suspicions, so it really was our fault. Cayden had Micah waiting for Ashley. Then we got the call that Kai had been kidnapped. I wanted to go to see Jason, but Cayden wouldn’t hear of it.
Before we could do anything, Kai had been dropped off in Blue Moon territory. He had a blue circle Resistance card. Cayden fumed, “How convenient. Alexander gets back, which means Melanie/Ashley is around somewhere. Her nephew gets kidnapped and rescued. Yet said nephew won't say anything about who brought him home. It was her!”
I reasoned, “It doesn’t make sense though. Kai is T’s son. Does she think Jase is dead?” I stood straight up, “NO! A while back, Melanie sent a note with a gift to Jase. It was a watch.” The same watch I’d seen in our home. Why didn’t I put that together before now?! Rain asked, “And why doesn’t our head hurt?” It didn’t actually, not even slightly now.
I ran to our house and grabbed the watch Ashley gave Cayden. I turned knowing he’d followed me, “This watch. She gave this watch to Jase and said congratulations. She thinks T is dead then. Which doesn’t make sense because she knows Kai is her nephew.”
Cayden frowned, “She either doesn’t know he is her nephew, or she thinks he’s Jason’s.” That wouldn’t even be the worst of our suspicions honestly. It would piss off Tristan though. Cayden announced, “We are going to your parents tomorrow and everyone will be there. We will sort this out.”
He was going to say more but Micah called. Cayden answered it asking, “Where is she?” Cayden frowned then ordered, “Keep looking.” I sighed, “She’s not back?” Rain grumbled, “We were totally getting in a sexy sleuthing mood and that ruined it.” Probably.
Cayden paced, “Micah thinks it’s weird since she’s supposed to be. Her friends are worried, but they aren’t talking. They just told Micah she’s delayed, but she’ll be back.” I groaned, “Let’s just go kick teeth in then have more sex.” Cayden laughed, “If we are right, that would upset your brother because it would upset her. We can definitely have sex though.”
Rain jumped up and down in my head, “He said sex. Jump him.” I groaned, “Ok, just know if this giant conspiracy is true, the headache will know no bounds. It’s been better lately though. Nonexistent even, which is odd.”
Cayden agreed, “It is.” I picked up on his feelings in the bond. He had something to say he didn’t want to. Rain grumbled, “Just have sex THEN ask.” I snorted, “What else do you want to say?” Rain huffed, “Things are just not going my way today.”
Cayden warned, “Don’t freak out but apparently earlier today, a few of your cousins and Theo, set a trap.” I sat up interrupting the story, “Is Theo ok?” Cayden nodded, “He’s fine. They were saved by someone screaming at Jason to duck in a distorted voice.”
I gasped, “So Melanie/Ashley saved Jase AND Kai in one day?” Cayden replied, “ I think she did. We know she has holoports and a Demon to get her around. Which means you can get around quickly.” I snorted, “True.”
We went to sleep after I let Rain take over and jump him. When we woke up, Micah still hadn’t found Ashley, and Max wanted him home. Cayden sent Silas went to keep a watch out for her instead. We were due at my parents’ house soon.
EJ’s worry and fear hit me so hard I frowned. Cayden asked, “Cass?” I explained, “Something is wrong.” I gripped Cayden’s shoulder when EJ’s anger hit me next. Cayden urgently asked, “What is it? Who is it?” I whispered, “EJ and he’s very angry.”
Cayden mused, “He’s this angry your eyes are blazing over vacation ending?” I shook my head, “That can’t be it.” Rain said, “It’s not. Brutus is roaring about a betrayal.” Shit. Cayden started rubbing my shoulders and I popped us to the castle.
My uncles were all coming to the meeting too since we told them we needed them. Uncle Bjourn asked, “Cass?” I told him, “EJ is beyond pissed.” I bolted up, “Now he’s calculating, pissed, and worried. Rain said Brutus is ranting about a betrayal. What the hell is going on?”
