“Not a chance in hell,” I laugh, standing up. Gizmo wiggles on the hardwood floor, scratching his back before finallygetting the traction to flip back over. I shake my head at his antics before heading to the door. “Don’t worry, sis. I’ve got it all under control. No one can resist my charm for too long. It’s just a matter of time before she comes to her senses, and I’ll be right there waiting when she does.”

I look back at her and grin as I shut the door to the eye roll she gives me.

I pull up to Molly’s a short time later and back my bike into a parking space. Ryder and Jake love this place for date nights, so I’m hoping to impress her with the cozy rooftop atmosphere overlooking the water. The sky is beautiful tonight, so the sunset should be amazing.

I secure my helmet before walking inside. I’m a little early, but I wanted to make sure we get a good table. Bypassing the front dining area, I take the elevator to the rooftop bar.

Molly’s is an old historic hotel that’s been here forever. A few years back, it was completely renovated, and they added a whole restaurant to the upper level. I step out onto the grey-tiled floor. A bar sits in the middle with seating around it as the bartenders mix and pour drinks. Various outdoor sectionals are scattered about for a more social setting.

Tables meant for couples to dine are lined against the glass railing overlooking the water. I find a vacant one in the corner and head that way while I wait for Olivia to get here.

I’m scanning the menu when I feel her. It’s like the whole room gets electrified as my body reacts to her presence. I search the restaurant before my eyes lock with hers. She’s wearing a sage-green summer dress paired with gold sandals. It’s strapless and hugs her curves, ending at her ankles. A slit up the side gives me a glimpse of her long, tanned leg, and my mouth suddenly goes as dry as the Sahara Desert.

I notice the group of guys sitting near her go silent as they take her in. A wave of possessiveness rushes through me, takingme by surprise. It’s not a feeling I’ve ever felt before, but it’s there as I watch other men stare at her ass as she walks to my table. The need to tell them to keep their fucking eyes to themselves has me curling my hand in a fist under the table.

Her sweet honey scent surrounds me as she reaches me, and I stand up to pull her chair out for her.

“Hi,” she says softly. Her eyes look striking against the green of her dress, making them stand out even more. She has her hair pulled back in a ponytail at the nape of her neck, and all I can think about is what her slender neck would feel like against my palm as I’m deep inside her.

“Hi,” I finally manage to get out. I pull out her chair, and she takes a seat. “You look beautiful,” I murmur, bending close to her ear.

“Thank you,” she says quietly. Her chest expands with each breath as her breathing increases. Black ink catches my eye, and before I can stop myself, I’m tracing the image on her skin. A cute, small honey bee sits behind her ear, its wings spread in flight. Behind it sits a dainty black line that forms a heart before curving to the bee, showing the path it flew.

“Sweet like honey,” I murmur, tracing the lines on her soft skin. Seeing the ink on her skin stirs something inside of me.

I’ve never felt the urge to make someone mine.

Until now.

On my next breath, my lips touch ink, and I hear her breath catch. My tongue swipes for a taste before I even register what I’m doing. All I know is she’s left a mark on me that will never fade, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine.

CHAPTER SIX

OLIVIA

His tongue swipes my tattoo, and it’s all I can do not to turn my head and bring those lips to mine. I’ve thought of a million reasons why I should have canceled tonight, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I even turned it into a business meeting, hoping it would justify why I was going, but as soon as I saw him, I knew it was a lie. I should have turned and run in the opposite direction when I had the chance, but I’m addicted to how he makes me feel. I can’t help but wonder what it would be like to be free for the night. To do things for no other reason than just purely satisfying my needs. I’ve gladly taken a back seat and given my all to my daughter, but maybe this one night, I can be selfish and take something I want.

His lips leave my neck, and I immediately miss their presence. Sitting across from me, his eyes study me. He has a habit of playing with his lip ring when he’s deep in thought, as I watch it disappear in his mouth before bringing it back out.

“Why a bee?” I blink when he breaks the silence as I focus on what he’s asking.

“My best friend is named Bee.” It’s not a lie. He doesn’tneed to know that my best friend is also my four-year-old daughter. If I go through with tonight and he agrees, it needs to be with no attachments.

He nods his head as he accepts my answer. The waitress appears with our menus, and she does her best to flirt and get his attention, but it’s all on me. I order a white wine, and he does a bourbon along with a couple of appetizers we pick out for us to share.

When we’re left alone, I laugh at what I just witnessed.

“Do you get hit on so much that you don’t even notice it anymore? Our waitress was eye-fucking you the whole time, and you didn’t even bat an eye.”

“Did it make you jealous?” He grins.

“She doesn’t look a day over eighteen, so no.”

“It’s okay to admit that you like me and you got jealous.” His lips twitch to hide a smile, and I roll my eyes as he chuckles. The waitress brings our drinks over, and he leans forward and takes my hand, kissing the underside of my wrist, clearly giving her a message that says we are together.

His warm breath fans my skin, sending goosebumps across my flesh before releasing me. I take a sip of my wine and welcome the coolness against the heat that’s flowing through my body.
