I turn my face to the side, resting a cheek against the weathered rockers stitched into the leather on his back as I nuzzle in closer. The apprehension I felt that first timeI climbed on to the back of his bike has long since evaporated. I know without a doubt I’m safe with Rhett.

We downshift, gliding around the turn as the chainlink fence that surrounds the clubhouse comes into sight. One of the prospects is stationed at the front gate, nodding at us as we swing into the lot. Dismounting the bike first, Rhett offers me his hand to help me down, fingers lacing with mine as we head inside.

You can still hear the low and steady beat of a Diggy Graves song thumping from the main lounge as we turn down the hall toward our bedroom. Nix’s broody figure is posted up outside, thick forearms folded across his chest, foot kicked up as he leans back against the wall. He swivels his head in our direction when he hears our footsteps, wicked excitement burning in his dark eyes as he spots us.

“Bout time,” he grumbles, pushing off the wall.

“Stopped off for dessert,” Rhett shrugs.

“When did–” my brows furrow as I tilt my head up. Rhett shoots me a wink and realization slams into me. “Oh,” I reply, a blush heating my cheeks.

“Bastard,” Nix grunts, slugging Rhett in the shoulder.

He stumbles a step backwards with a chuckle as Nix slides up and slings his arm around me. “I’ve got a surprise for you, little killer.”

“We,” Rhett cuts in.

“Fuck off,” Nix spits over his shoulder. “Go on in,” he says, twisting the handle and pushing open the door to our bedroom.

I take a hesitant step forward, unsure of what exactly could be waiting inside, but my eyes go wide and glossy the second I cross the threshold. Nix’s bed is littered with shopping bags, all filled to the brim with clothes that look far too femininefor their vibe.

“For me?” I squeak out, whipping my head around.

“All for you, darlin’,” Rhett nods.

“And if you don’t like something or it’s not the right color or size, we can take it back,” Nix adds, carding a hand through his hair.

With a squeal, I pivot on a heel and lunge towards him. He grunts as my arms snake around him. His hands settle on my ass, lifting me up as my legs wrap around him instinctively. “Thank you,” I breathe, burying my face in the crook of his neck.

He hugs me tight against his chest, his scent of leather and cigarette smoke surrounding me as he murmurs in my ear, “try not to get bloodstains on these ones, little killer.”

“No promises,” I laugh.

A knock comes on the half-open door. “Sorry to interrupt,” Mav grumbles as he steps in. He sweeps his gaze over the shopping bags, cocking a brow as he turns to where I’m clinging to Nix like a koala. “But if you two are done…” he waves a hand, “doing whatever this is, I could use my Sergeant at Arms and the resident pyro out back.”

Nix reluctantly loosens his hold, my body sliding over the hard bulge in the front of his jeans before my feet hit the floor. He jerks a nod at Mav and starts to take a step before he pauses.

He turns back towards me, tattooed hand darting out to collar my throat. The rough pad of his thumb trails along my jaw as he studies my face for a suspended moment.

I swallow thickly, his fingers flexing before he leans in and crushes his lips against mine. It’s hard, fast, enough to leave me breathless and clenching my thighs together in need.

“Meet us out there?” he murmurs as he breaks the kiss.

“Yeah,” I pant.

“Thatta girl,” he smirks, dropping his hand and striding out until the hall with Rhett and Mav.

I expectit to be cold when I push open the back door, wearing nothing but Nix's black hoodie as a dress, but the blaze of the fire is strong enough that I can already feel the heat from here. Taking a few steps forward, I swivel my head, searching the sea of flannel and leather for my men. My stomach starts to knot when I don’t spot them right away, and I suddenly feel horribly out of place.

I wrap my arms around myself, unsure whether to retreat. I know I shouldn’t feel this uncomfortable–every member of the club has been nothing but nice to me since Rhett and Nix announced I was staying indefinitely. The guys had some meeting they called church, and after that, they reassured me that I’d be nothing but safe and protected here. Still, without one of them at my side, I just feel… adrift.

I’m a half a second away from slinking back to our room when a set of hands grip my hips. I yelp, warm breath skating across the shell of my ear.

“Caught you.”

My body immediately relaxes as recognition sinks in.

Nix whips me around, dark eyes blazing. “You weren’t thinking about running, were you?”
